Coney Island - Stillwell Avenue will be closed for reconstruction for about a decade, and it will affect about 3 stations north of Coney Island in all train services serving it. What would you do?

(D) to Bay Pkwy

(F) to Kings Hwy (or Avenue X, whatever)

(N) to Kings Hwy

(Q) to Brighton Beach

That scenario kind of happened already I guess, Fresh Pond's answer is the best for that one.

@FamousNYLover, I thought this was "SUBWAY" What If, not the whole damn transit world what if's.

I know but I put that as bonus. 2 miles radius will affect most trains/ferries as well.

Due to flooding on the Montague Street, and because of a structural problem on the Manny-B, reroute the (B) , (D) , (N), (Q), (R) !

(B): Bronx-34th Street

(D): Some trains Bronx-Coney Island via Culver Express and 6th Avenue Local. Most trains terminate at 34th Street signed as (B)'s.

(M): Chambers Street-Metropolitan Avenue

(N): Queens-34th Street and Pacific Street-Coney Island.

(Q): 71st Avenue-Coney Island via Culver Express and 6th Avenue Local. Replaces (M) and (R) in Queens.

(R): 36th Street-95th Street, shuttle

A bit foamerish, but in a case like this, I'd do it. This would probably confuse riders nonetheless, so it's not the best solution.

Well here how I would've done my scenario

(B) 145 to 2 Avenue

(D): R160s would be needed for this scenario, because it would require some turns

Two Sections:

205 street to Essex Street (J)(M)(Z)*

* At Essex only the last 5 cars of the train will open its door

Essex Street to Coney Island*

Stations Essex to Broad: Only the first 5 cars will open

Via 4 Avenue Local and West End Local

(N) Atlantic to Coney Island via 4 Avenue Avenue

(Q) Atlantic to Coney Island via Brighton Local

(R) Two Sections

71 Avenue or Astoria to Whitehall (headways increase in Queens)

36 street to 95 street via 4 Avenue Local.

The R68's wouldn't even be able to get to Essex Street due to them being 75 feet, so that's impossible.
