T2 comes in where D4 used to be. D4 was rerouted on the south end to connect to the former D5 relay track, which was connected on its north end back to D4.

T1 comes in where D1 used to be. A new D1 was built outside of it.

Huh?? Is there a picture you could show us?

Excuse me people, but the Hell Gate Bridge has room for only one more track. Google Maps shows me that there are three tracks being used for freight so there is only one available track. You have to buy a track from the freight railroads if you want to use an extra track and leave the other two for freight.

Google Maps images.

No, the Hell gate are 2 tracks for Amtrak and one for freight. An additional one can be added for commuter rail if needed.

  • 2 weeks later...

It is designed for three services:

(Q) north of 63 St

(T) full length

another service from Queens south of 63 St

In a fictional service game

if i ran it like this

(Q) north of 63rd street

(T) full length

queens service south of 63rd

and suppliment to the (T) a future south 4 st and utica ave subway to houston street

would there be a problem

another service from Queens south of 63 St

The 63rd street stubs for this service evidently already exist (I saw them in a video), but wouldn't one of the tubes have to do some crazy gymnastics to align with Second Avenue from 63rd Street, since the 63rd Street line is double-decker? Once the (T) is fully built out, how hard would it be to connect Second Avenue to 63rd Street?

Not necessarily. The turnout would be similar to what the (Q) currently does.

Phase 3 is a go if they can find the funding for it...

What exactly does it mean if the governor declares a state of emergency for the MTA wouldn’t that help to secure funding for vital infrastructure projects and expansion? Or is this more for shoring up existing infrastructure?
