Lawrence St Posted May 12, 2017 Share #4178 Posted May 12, 2017 T2 comes in where D4 used to be. D4 was rerouted on the south end to connect to the former D5 relay track, which was connected on its north end back to D4. T1 comes in where D1 used to be. A new D1 was built outside of it. Huh?? Is there a picture you could show us?

Italianstallion Posted May 13, 2017 Share #4181 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Excuse me people, but the Hell Gate Bridge has room for only one more track. Google Maps shows me that there are three tracks being used for freight so there is only one available track. You have to buy a track from the freight railroads if you want to use an extra track and leave the other two for freight. Google Maps images. No, the Hell gate are 2 tracks for Amtrak and one for freight. An additional one can be added for commuter rail if needed. Porter Posted May 28, 2017 Share #4187 Posted May 28, 2017 another service from Queens south of 63 St The 63rd street stubs for this service evidently already exist (I saw them in a video), but wouldn't one of the tubes have to do some crazy gymnastics to align with Second Avenue from 63rd Street, since the 63rd Street line is double-decker? Once the is fully built out, how hard would it be to connect Second Avenue to 63rd Street?
Union Tpke Posted May 28, 2017 Share #4188 Posted May 28, 2017 There are bellmouths for the connection.

The turnout would be similar to what the currently does.
Deucey Posted June 30, 2017 Share #4190 Posted June 30, 2017 So since decided to not build express tracks on the current operating segment, does that mean the rest of SAS will be a two-track line?

Around the Horn Posted July 2, 2017 Share #4197 Posted July 2, 2017 Are they still planning to extend the line further north past 96 St? Yes, they're currently doing design work at the moment. Should be starting on preliminary utilities relocation in the next year or two.

RailRunRob Posted July 2, 2017 Share #4200 Posted July 2, 2017 Phase 3 is a go if they can find the funding for it... What exactly does it mean if the governor declares a state of emergency for the MTA wouldn’t that help to secure funding for vital infrastructure projects and expansion? Or is this more for shoring up existing infrastructure? Sent from my iPhone using NYC Transit Forums mobile app
