The N8 should be extended to the Hempstead Terminal. It will make right onto the Hempstead Turnpike, left on Franklin Street, a right on Columbia Street, and enter the terminal. The N8 to Hempstead will use one of the N6's extra bays. Either that, or go straight to Roosevelt Field via Clinton and Stewart, just like the N35.

N23: Extend to Roosevelt Field via Old Country Road, and Rush Hour service to Hempstead via Frankin Ave from Mineola.

Old Country Has the 22/24 already. Buses should continue to use n27 routing

N24: Full Time Service to East Meadow, Weekday Service will enter NCC and stop at Student Union, Bookstore, and Bradley Hall. Eliminate trips to Hicksville

Nope. Not gunna work. The n24 East Meadow trips were made to avoid NCC. The East Meadow Trips should run from RF to Merrick and Hempstead Turnpike, being renamed to n51. If you suggest sending the 78/79 to Mineola, many people will transfer at RF and everyone getting off at Hicksville with other people going to Suffolk or along MH Road, not gunna work either.

N27: Extend to Roosevelt Field with Part Time service to Hempstead

True. N27 riders need some service east of LIRR Oyster Bay Branch off-peak as well

N33: extend to Rockaway Park

This actually defeats the purpose of being a NICE route. Service is fine to FR. If anything eliminate N69 and replace it with n33

N78/N79: Restore Service along Old Country Road to Mineola

See n24 above.

You need service north of Broadway mall on the N48 many workers go to Jericho Quad. The first one is packed with only a few people getting off in hicksville.

What route would it take to reach Sunrise?

In any case, here's what I'd do:

N2/N8: Extended via Stewart Avenue/Cherry Valley Road/11th Street/Franklin Avenue to Mineola.

N5: New route from Malverne to LIJ via Hempstead Avenue-Nassau Blvd-Marcus Avenue.

N6: Stops added at Springfield Blvd, Elmont Road, and Franklin Avenue.

N14: Extended across Demott Avenue/Centennial Avenue to Babylon Turnpike to fill in an east-west service gap.

N17: More stops added along North Village Avenue.

N21: Extended to Morgan Memorial Park via Landing Road.

N22X: Stop added at New Hyde Park Road

N27: Off-peak service combined with N20 short-turns (if they don't already end at Roslyn, then they should be extended there and combined with the N27). It would give N20 riders access to the Roslyn LIRR station and also help former N21 riders. Extended to Locust Valley LIRR station via Forest Avenue.

I'd like to find some way of providing service to the Elm Avenue area in Glen Cove. Maybe the best way would be to have a route from Morgan Memorial Park to Elm Avenue/Viola Drive, but the problem becomes the turnaround at the eastern end. Eh, there are probably a bunch of NIMBYs there anyway.

N46: QJT actually had a good idea in his plan to reroute it to the RFM. The N47/48/49 would serve Hempstead riders.

N81: Extended to Oyster Bay via South Oyster Bay Road/Jackson Avenue, and Split Road Road, Oyster Bay RoadPine Hollow Road, South Street, and Audrey Avenue.

Similar to what they did with the N24, what about extending some of the N4s to Sunrise Mall or even Babylon? That could bring some more ridership east of Freeport because the N19 would no longer be needed, eliminating the transfer. I would not extend all N4s, maybe one every half hour or even every hour. Depends how often the N19 runs now, but what do you think of that idea?

I've seen ridership on the N80/81 during the day, just like you can see in some photos on these forums. The 80 and the 81 could not be cut, or cancelled, but should run hourly together (meaning each every two hours) which cuts the service in half, and still leaves riders with a bus.

Okay, here is the dealio:

n80/81: Merged to one route known as the n80 [Run via Stewart Ave. -> Hicksville Road -> Sunrise and end at Sunrise Mall] This new route will run hourly.

Should N27 bus stop at Northern Blvd & Glen Clove Rd bus stops to relocate for safer transfer since this is very busy and dangerous intersection.

N27 Glen Clove bus stop should relocate to south side for easier transfer from N20 while N27 Roslyn/Hempstead should be on north side of Northern Blvd for easier transfer to N20 Flushing.

Right now, former N21 riders from Flushing has to J-cross Northern Blvd with busy and speedy traffic.

No, the problem is there are cars turning on the curbs you mentioned, and a bus will cause congestion, I think it's good enough, but things have to be streamlined to allow better connections...

Where would it go from Merrick Avenue? Merrick or Hempstead?

Because if it is going back to Hempstead, may as well call it the N47.

N51: Rerouted along Merrick to Serve N53 loop routing to make people happy

Along which streets? The roads in Merrick are too narrow for regular buses, so that's why they used minibuses for n53. The only real roads you could route it along would be Meadowbrook Road, which is only the western half, and alot of people get on/off on Merrick Avenue. It makes more sense to just revive the n53.

Isn't the N69 owned by the City of Long Beach?

No, NICE just lets it operate it.

My opinions

n2/8:

>Extend to Mineola, Weekdays only via Covert/ Stewart Avs and Nassau Blvd.

The n2 runs via Jericho Tpke, and the n8 runs via Merrilon Avenue and Old County Road.

>They could alternatively be run to HTC via the n6

Implement a n4x

Create a n53 Merrick Shuttle

>Runs in an AM/PM loop via Meadowbrook Road, Old Mill Road, Shaw Drive, and Park Avenue.

n67

>Runs from Rockville Centre LIRR to Hicksville LIRR, via Lakeview/Seaman Avs, and then the pre-2010 n67 route.

n76 Hicksville - Babylon

>Runs from Hicksville LIRR to Grohmans Lane via the n79, then goes to Planview Road via Haypath Road. Runs via the (135) to Exit 8, Going to Bethpage Parkway to Central Av/Merrits Road to Fulton St, right turn on CR-47 (Main St) to Bethpage Rd/35 St. Hammington St to Wellwood Av, to E John St. Turns right on Arnold Ave, then right on (109), finally making a left on Trolley Path Rd to Babylon LIRR

n78

Extend to Famingdale via the n95

n79

Re route every other rush hour bus via Crossways Industrial.

There is no crosswalk signal crossing Glen Cove Rd to get to the bus stop. It is a little dangerous.
