lilbluefoxie Posted June 5, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 5, 2012 I'm glad it doesnt look like that anymore. That R10 door opener switch placement is extremely unsafe, its a good thing that was gotten rid of a long time ago.

lilbluefoxie Posted June 5, 2012 Share #10 Posted June 5, 2012 I do hope that the Subway and Commuter Railroads (I've seen photos of worn out M1s from the early 80s) never evvvvvver look like that again. Dark, badly lit stations that were much filthier than they are today, Crime up the wazoo, ugly tagged up trains, equipment that broke down a lot. I personally dont get the appeal of that chapter of New York history. Yes its interesting today seeing how things used to look, but in my opinion its an era thats better left where it belongs, in the past.

RailBus63 Posted June 5, 2012 Share #12 Posted June 5, 2012 I started railfanning the TA back in 1980. I'm glad I had the opportunity to ride somne of the older cars that were retired soon after, but I do not miss the fear, dirt, graffiti and overall decreptitude that permeated the system back then. Interesting photos, but yeah, I never want to go back there.

Grand Concourse Posted June 6, 2012 Share #16 Posted June 6, 2012 I don't want to rain anyone's parade here, but unless they are your pics, this thread doesn't belong here as all it's doing is reposting pics from other websites and there's no citing of the person that took them. That's just me, carry on.
youngblaze Posted June 6, 2012 Share #17 Posted June 6, 2012 I must thank you! I absolutely love these vintage photo's you post up from time to time I really wish I was alive during those times...the subway had such personality.
