NJ Transit's NABI 31 ft LF bus

Recommended Posts

Don't put that tiny thing on the 501. That line gets DANGEROUSLY OVERCROWDED when it passes the Marina Casinos. Put the full size [what a f'n joke since the NABIs are undersized at 38.5 feet] bus on that line.

Wow, not even a 3rd Gen one? And no rear door? I'm sorry, but that bus looks awful, and I'm sure it'll be awful to ride. I'm happy NJT is getting a low floor, but that thing is definitely not something I can approve of.

And don't turn this into a good ol NABI argument either, I'm not taking part in it and I know people don't like the fact that I and others don't like NABI but let's just have our opinions and agree to disagree.

here's the images of the interior from transitchuckg99

I have officially lost every last bit of respect I had for this bus. Transit (not soft) seating? WTF NJT? The NABI 416s are getting soft seating, so why change that?

No rear door, no 3G design (which IMO isn't much better than the old one), and now these seats? Damn this is a BAD bus, and I thought the 416s were suckish. Hopefully this isn't an order to completely wipe out the baby RTSes and the next order goes to Nova, New Flyer, or MTS, or at least they go with 3Gs with rear doors and soft seats!

Those look like soft seats to me kinda like the ones you would find on the train but idk it looks more suited for morris only or just the lines in general that don't get many passengers.

1. Those are cushioned seats, not hard seats.

2. No rear door = more room for the interior which IMO is a really good move. After all, this bus is 31ft and a low floor.....low floor buses have terrible room by themselves.....

3. This order was placed during the time the 416s were currently being made, the 3G design was not even developed. Plus using the same front end = saves costs on maintenance & shares parts among the other NABIs...

4. You wont see an LFS or a New Flyer operating in NJT anytime soon!

5. Bad bus? You haven't rode the thing yet, sit down and wait till this thing hits service.....

If you're going to criticize a bus, at least wait till it hits service. Premature criticizing = terrible critic!

They're like the seats on the SEPTA buses but with a bit more cushioning. Not something I think is gonna work here.

What makes you say that?

All these "baby" buses have had soft seats for a while now, and this sure is a big change from those. I'm sure people aren't going to like the new seats, it isn't like NJT has used them before, these seats are going to be a big change from what people are used to sitting down on. The soft seats have worked out on NJT transit buses for a long time now, I don't understand why they decided to use these seats on the 31LFWs.

Just remember one thing, the bigger seats take up more room and this is a low floor bus, so using those bigger seats would be a bad idea. It only worked on the RTS because of course...they are high floor!

Using these kind of seats bring on a lot more room. Compare the sizes between both kinds of seats and you'll understand what I mean.

The seats are still soft and cushioned so I dont know what the big deal is. I'm pretty sure the folks who have to use these buses wont take it THAT seriously....you are over-exaggerating.

Like I always said, quit jumping the gun and lets wait and see what happens because when the seat style changed on the NABI high floors, I havent heard about any complaints!

Looking at the pictures its small and outside its weird but i would not be surprised if the buses were ordered for Broadway and the remaining buses at AC. So how many will be ordered other than the 31 planned i mean they could order more and is there 31 foot suburban style?

i kinda thought so too like the PHL airport courtesy shuttles i would take from the Economy lot, those are Gillig LFW with big backdoors

They might be ElDorado National, I remember seeing those and I think they looked similar to the ones at FLL which are ElDorado. They make a lot of buses for airports.

Correct me if I'm wrong,

The car rental shuttle buses at FLL have 2 doors on the right side and a rear door on the left side specially for the Rental Car Center

I have been to Florida many times

And there's alot of Gilligs at PHL Airport, some for Avis, some for Hertz, and some owned by PHL Airport for the Economy Lot and Employee Lot Shuttles
