DaTransitMan4608 Posted September 13, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2012 I know many of you wish NJ Transit would get new artics soon because most of them are starting to fall apart a bit. I know its a long way off until they are replaced. I got some sides of custom paper buses I made as artist renderings. So which bus do you think should be NJT's next artic? Artic 1: New Flyer XD60 Artic 2: Nova LFSA Artic 3: NABI 436 (60-SFW)
Cait Sith Posted September 13, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2012 The way I see it, I see them going with the NABI 60-BRT. I doubt they'd make a 436 again.
Orion VII 4 Life Posted September 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2012 Xcelsior easily, now that'd be some bus! Second pick LFSA, probably more likely too since NJT has had good relations with Nova in the past. I do NOT want that NABI lol, that 436 had some MAJOR problems from what I've heard and their BRTs are just plain ugly.

Turbo19 Posted September 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 13, 2012 Why do I have a feeling that NJT would opt for more 40's instead, or more possibly a NABI 45C?

FamousNYLover Posted September 13, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 13, 2012 Excellent design and I like all the artic. Can you also do GOBus version too?
DaTransitMan4608 Posted September 13, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted September 13, 2012 Excellent design and I like all the artic. Can you also do GOBus version too? That depends on which bus you're talking about. I have a GObus for the Xcelsior and NABI, but not one for the Nova yet.
Juan833Blue Posted September 13, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 13, 2012 I think the XD60 would be a good fit for NJT, but it is a low-floor and NJT until recently hasn't started getting low-floor buses.
mtattrain Posted September 14, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 14, 2012 Artic 3: NABI 436 (60-SFW) Lol we only have 2 choices then from your pictures; this model is gone. XD But in all seriousness, I could see NJ getting D60LFRs, XD60s, LFS-As or 60-BRT buses.
compobus fan Posted September 14, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 14, 2012 Why do I have a feeling that NJT would opt for more 40's instead, or more possibly a NABI 45C? They had the Metro 45C on order (15) but they cancelled and just painted the current NABI's in the GOBUS. I also agree the NABI relationship is strong, and at least some number of 60BRT will show up at some point. On a side note, with all the NABI haters on board, how are the NJT and BEE Line NABI's holding up in general ??

If possible can you do GoBus NABI Artic style?

I'll tell ya, the D60LFR would be a good choice for NJT is they decide to replace the artics, but it's a wait and we shall see situation but remember, NJT doesn't like New Flyer Buses and IMO they could in all likelihood have Nova LFS Articulateds which would be a nice fit, but we shall wait and see, you never know where NJT can purchase artics from. SirJokaPlaya Posted September 14, 2012 Share #14 Posted September 14, 2012 Doesn't New Flyer still hates NJT's guts for the bidding issues a few years back? I doubt it seriously that a New Flyer would be used in NJT, otherwise, we would have those buses than NABI's if you think about it.
FlashThunder Posted September 15, 2012 Share #15 Posted September 15, 2012 putting aside who hates NJT, I think it's obvious that Neoplans has to go..like now. They are beat up and we need to replace them soon and need some more for crowded lines...
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted September 18, 2012 Share #16 Posted September 18, 2012 I would go with Xcelsior, but I'm gonna say the LFSA should replace this neoplans
theaveragejoe Posted September 18, 2012 Share #17 Posted September 18, 2012 I would expect Nova, NABI, and New Flyer put bids in, money is money would be dumb not to put a bid in!

Artic 2: Nova LFSA Would love to see these! Totally agree though that the Neoplans need to go. Sitting in the first few rows of front-facing seats, going down the hills of Weehawken to get to the tunnel, I'm a little scared the overhead racks are going to come down on my head. By habit, I put my hand up there to steady it!
