User Posted April 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2014 KEW GARDENS — A 35-year-old homeless man was arrested and charged with stabbing a 26-year-old man in the Union Turnpike subway station Sunday afternoon after authorities searched a city bus and chased the suspect on foot, the NYPD said. The Police Department said officers responded to the subway station at 2:18 p.m., and found the victim stabbed in the face on the Manhattan-bound E train platform. The 26-year-old was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in serious but stable condition, according to the NYPD. Police said the man charged in the incident, Kristopher Brown, had climbed on a bus headed east on Queens Boulevard following the attack. After officers stopped the bus, Brown allegedly took off running, but cops caught up with him, police said. The weapon, which was believed to be a boxcutter, had not been recovered, according to police. Brown, 35, was arrested and charged with one count of assault, according to cops. The residential address police provided for Brown was a Brooklyn homeless shelter. QM1to6Ave Posted April 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2014 So much for a peaceful Easter, smh. They make it sound like he got on the Q60 after leaving the station, but it must have been the Q46. I saw a swarm of NYPD vehicles surrounding a Q46 yesterday afternoon around this time.

MHV9218 Posted April 22, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 22, 2014 Leave the homeless alone. Their lives are hard enough in the first place. People like this crazy are rarities and to call for some sort of crackdown because of one lunatic would be ridiculous.

I mean seriously sad as it is we have murderers making the news out of all walks of life everyday. +1. Homeless people do nothing but make an normal commuter life like hell on the subway... Well if the administrators of the disorganized and underfunded mental health care system can treat patients properly things like this will be at a minimum. remember that unfortunately the majority of thise who are homeless are those who are mentally ill. bobtehpanda Posted April 24, 2014 Share #12 Posted April 24, 2014 Then it's the city's fault for putting its citizens in harms way It only does so because no one wants to actually pay for the costs of treating/taking care of the situation. It's too expensive.
realizm Posted April 25, 2014 Share #13 Posted April 25, 2014 Then it's the city's fault for putting its citizens in harms way Yes it is in a way ultimately a result of the city, and its failure to take care of the homeless and this is one of the ways, a substandard mental health care system. If the mental healthcare system didn't crumble in the late 19th century the way that it did with no real resolutions to repair the mistakes made on an administrative and federal level, those who are mentally unstable will get the inpatient or outpatient care they need and therefore nowt homeless on the street. Which in itself would prevent tragic events such as this. It only does so because no one wants to actually pay for the costs of treating/taking care of the situation. It's too expensive. ...and this.
