alekr Posted May 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2014 I'm just wondering how long does it take a S78 bus to complete the route? I know that is the longest local bus route but curious how long does it take from 1 terminal to another one?

Fresh Pond Posted May 28, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 28, 2014 The bigger question is who would ride the line from end to end, when you can shave off a huge portion of that by taking the train...

Facts....it's just way too long. I don't think anyone would ride it from end to end.
Missabassie Posted May 28, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 28, 2014 I've ridden the S78 from end to end back in 2008 before the NGs started coming in, but I don't remember how long it took. I will say that's one hella long route... Oh yeah, I took it to tottenville, then rode back to Richmond Av for the X1. I got to manhattan, got off and realized I dropped my cheapie phone in the seat. Not cool.
MattTrain Posted May 28, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 28, 2014 I did that once it was about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Not doing that again.
S78 via Hylan Posted May 28, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 28, 2014 The first day when it started going to Bricktown Mall, I rode it from there to the ferry. Took only an hour and three minutes. The operator sped through most of Hylan Blvd.

The operator sped through most of Hylan Blvd. I can cosign with this. Although my ride wasn't on the first day (it was with a friend actually), it was just a little bit over an hour. Q43LTD Posted June 18, 2014 Share #18 Posted June 18, 2014 The longest based on what? Time or distance? Can't be distance because the S78 has the 79 beat...
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted June 18, 2014 Share #19 Posted June 18, 2014 Can't be distance because the S78 has the 79 beat... Yeah but the S78 for what it's worth usually moves. Most SI routes don't make tons of stops in terms of constantly picking up and dropping off passengers because most of them are geared towards the ferry. BM5 via Woodhaven Posted June 18, 2014 Share #20 Posted June 18, 2014 Can't be distance because the S78 has the 79 beat... He means longest SBS when he's talking about the S79. However, I don't know, Id say its the B44. With the exception of the M34/M34A, the SBS routes are long and look like they have similar lengths.
