3890- OF. Retired

3864-3865, 3895: MV. Retired

4091: Fresh Pond. Retired,

4339:  Flatbush.  Retired

Good day all.  I see bus 3865 is retired.  Is there any way of finding out where the bus is currently and if it has been scrapped yet?  Thank you.

1224 from GH Depot was seen at EC Scrap but the bus was there due to high mileage.

Also the 12xx that hasn't been running for awhile is 1205,1248,1272 & 1277.

1205 hasn't  ran in awhile.

1224 hasn't ran since March.

1248 hasn't  ran since May.

1272 hasn't ran since June of this year.

1277 hasn't ran since July.

1205 had fire damage during it's assignment for the BX12+.

Maybe 1248, 1272 & 1277 are in storage? But then again giving how demanding the BX artic routes are in terms of buses needed, I don' t think they can afford to put buses to storage for the summer. Things could be interesting if those three buses don't reappear after Labor Day weekend.

Only other thing I could think of is they need parts or are getting heavy duty work at an CMF. Can't see them starting to retire the 1200s with no new artic order for the foreseeable future. Also I thought the Nova artic is a durable bus, I would be surprised to see the TA starting to write them off at only the 12 year mark.

#1224 Gun Hill confirmed retired

The first 2009-10 Novabus LFS Articulated to officially retire due to age and mileage (not counting #1201 and #1205 that were lost to fires years ago)

It’s not confirmed yet. Also, buses could not run for a while due to maintenance and upgrades for the bus. If they don’t run past Labor Day (especially the “since March” buses, then that can raise speculation.

But if this is true, then it’s time to question some more of the novas, 5853/54 (hasn’t ran since June), 5863/71/97, (hasn’t ran since July), and 5920 (hasn’t ran since July) are all sitting ducks right now.

Apparently, some 2010s are reaching their 500K mile limit early. Once any bus in the MTA hits 500,000 miles, then it has to retire.

Not to say I don't believe it but I feel like there are plenty of buses that passed the 500k mark especially the RTS and the older MCIs.

There is no such thing as “speculation”, because speculation means assuming that these buses are retired, in this case, they’re not. The 57/58/59xx series are 11 years old. Some buses are in storage because these buses are emergency/peak hour usages. This is why many buses even before it reaches 500K miles, they will limit them to that hours. But don’t tell that to Staten Island Express buses

1205 was involved in a fire back in 2019, so was 1201 when it was under MCH
