Exam 6601 Conductor 6601 Hiring Process

Hello do you guys know what number they are up to for calling in for drug test ? I took the OPA on 6/2/22 .. list# 7###

 

Or how quickly does the list progress ..please any advice would help...

Took me 7 months from OPA to hire date. Not sure how long it’s actually supposed to be, but hopefully it helps. You’ve just gotta be patient and let the process work. 
 

If you have a huge neck (17” +) or other undiagnosed medical condition you might get put on medical hold, so get the doctor to check you out on your time and dime, so you can start treatment if needed. 
 

Read your paperwork thoroughly as a mistake can delay you. You’ll also need EVERY job from the time you were 18. If you can’t think back that far, go to the Social Security office and they can give you a print out from every year you filed taxes. 
 

And be patient. The process can seem slow… okay it’s slow, but be patient.

Here's something for ya..

There a TSS(Train Service Supervisor) down here without a hand..

He started as a Conductor then  became a Train Operator..

If you feel you cant you wont be able to then so you are right this job isn't for you..

Came in today for medical , but was sent back cus my I got 2nd vaccine Aug 3th and gotta wait to the 17th to be fully vax to make 2 weeks , I had everything else all my documents  , any advice or knowledge on moving forward so I can know by the 17th if I go take my medical again … she just told me to wait for a email or phone call but I left the building 630am in the morning unsure that my position could be possibly not still be there …

any other conductor  not called in got that yet for transit cleaner?

What list number are you ? ..are you near the 7000#s ?

well the list is supposed to expire february so technically yes

I did my 3rd pre employment today and did yet another drug test, now to await another medical, I wouldnt mind if its transit cleaner honestly

transit cleaner or  conductor?

it is open door to mta  if you get into  transit cleaner. then you can promote to other positions once exam open.

i am only

doing gig job while waiting.

dont want to work for another company.

in terms of cleaner or conductor, originally conductor but if I receive a conditional offer for cleaner im taking it

6601 expires in February 2023, that'll be the last time they'll call from that list.

 2008, 2016,

2024 should be next conductor test for public right after the promotional exam.

 it is just an educated guess.

i am doing transit cleaner , hope my medical 

hold wont  be that long because i am deaf partially.

Gotta see it like this, there is a lets say... 9 out of 10 chance of them extending the list to 2024 (saw a photo of a response from employment ops they sent to someone in the process that 2024 would be the final date). There always needs to be a flow of C/Rs coming in due to constant attrition with job titles such as this. The reasoning is if they have not come out with another OC for this title why would they shoot their selves in the foot by killing the OC and solely relying  on a promo that won't even be certified probably by the end of 2023 or early 2024. If 6601 were to get killed next year there would be no active C/R list when they are still short of a little over 250 C/Rs (some may pass some may fail some may resign the number is never steady then again it can rise). Keep in mind a civil service list can only be open a max of 6 years which would make 2/14/2024 the most sensible kill off date. Remember they have to have a OC on deck and a promo also.

I was on medical hold because of my hearing as well. Go to an ear specialist and get a hearing aid. As soon as you get it, let the ear specialist give you a hearing test. Take that to the office to clear your medical hold. Don’t wait on anything from them

The 6601 exam expired after 4 years. It was reopened because of COVID. A lot of MTA workers retired, leaving a lot of jobs open, that’s why they reopened the list. We are lucky

How does the promotional exam effect the 6601 list? Once 6601 expires they start hiring off the promotional list? Does anybody know?

The application for the promotional closes Dec 15. Remember transit does not test right after the date so the test date can be anywhere from February to April of next year. Even though less people take the exam it takes time to conclude testing, protest sessions and then to certify the list. 6601 would still need to be active in order for the flow of C/Rs to be up to the hiring needs. Basically it would take a while like all test to certify the promo and that most likely should be done by 2024. 6601 never expired but it was extended and can be extended again for a final time because legally the list cannot be active after Feb 14 2024. Sometime next year applications for an OC can most likely be expected. So when 6601 expires the promotional list can be used and must be exhausted in order for the next OC exam to be ready for calling of applicants.
