Novabus 5000 639 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2009 ... sooner than expected. Today from my school yard along I saw a set of R68s undergoing testing in the rockaways along the line. This wasn't the first time. This was the second. The first was a couple of weeks ago. What could this mean...
S78 via Hylan 1,081 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2009 It sure doesn't guarantee that R68's are going on the .
Queens Surface 434 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 6, 2009 How in the world do you know that it's testing?
LRG 217 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2009 It would have been nice if you would provide pictures. But I seriously doubt R68s will be coming to the Fulton Street line anytime soon.
St Louis Car 09 22 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2009 That would be awesome to see the R68`s on the especially going to rockaway.
Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 6, 2009 I don't see what sense this would make when the A/C should really be 100% R46 [when the R32 and R44s are gone] so the fleet would be uniformed.

INDman 414 Posted November 6, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 6, 2009 Have you ever thought that some people don't have a camera??? Yes I have, but something like this needs proof to be backed up. Also, you would have the same reaction if I or someone else had said Slants were running on the or the Low-Vs ran today.
R32 3348 11 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #12 Posted November 7, 2009 Maybe CI finished work on an R68 and they wanted to test the motors to see if they were working properly. People have seen CI R160s (8800's) test in the Rockaways years after they've been placed into service.

And I have a reliable source or two of my own who can back certain stuff up should I be in doubt.

LRG 217 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 7, 2009 And you just proved my point! You would call someone to prove what I stated was true or not. You just proved as well that a picture is not always needed either. My friend often spots R32 trains and gives me a time the train is leaving a certain station and I'll calculate it down to the times provided by the timetable when it will be coming my day. It's how I caught the R32 ( train twice without having to wait anymore than 5 minutes. Pics are not always needed either.
Sea Beach 8 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #16 Posted November 7, 2009 wow, maybe they just wanted to see how the R68 would do in the Rockaways in case if they ever went on the .
PATCOman 196 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 7, 2009 I think some of the trackage in the Rockaways is a testing track.
Bill from Maspeth 1,798 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #18 Posted November 7, 2009 Sorry to bust your bubble. That track is a test track and all kinds of equipment are subject to be there for acceleration and braking tests. There are no plans to bring anything else other than R46's to replace the R32's to the A and C lines in the immediate future.
Zman 8 Posted November 7, 2009 Share #19 Posted November 7, 2009 Or it could have been a school car if it wasn't on the test track.
