Until it sees service on a BP line, wouldn't count it. They're literally about to get an entire batch, so this is more then likely training as originally stated.

well, they certainly weren't gonna keep a NYCTA farebox in a unit that's training BC B/O's on BP routes... that'd defeat the purpose. doesn't mean the unit won't eventually return to CS or wherever DOB sees fit tho

to clarify... training B/O's may be just a superintendent with 4 students per WITHOUT entering revenue service. the farebox change is to get B/O's fully acclimated with the feel of the unit(s) in question

to get B/O's fully acclimated with the unit. part of the training on new units involves going about standard operating procedure(s), setting mirrors, test the wheelchair ramp, seat setup, brake checks, and some (not all) superintendents will have you enter info into the farebox as if you are beginning a revenue service day. as i previously stated, this isn't a new practice. more times than not, units that transfer between TA/OA & BC will have the appropriate farebox installed.
