East New York Posted March 21, 2012 Share #26 Posted March 21, 2012 Don't know why Veolia told me that they are more likely to get DD's than Artics for niceBUS, :-S... DD's can get around much better than artics, and use existing bust stops as wsell.
aemoreira81 Posted March 21, 2012 Share #27 Posted March 21, 2012 (Let's pretend) Mike Setzer came up to you asked your opinion on wether NICE should go with Orion for the new buses this summer, or... What bus would you pick to come into Nassau County? I'd probably go with C40LF (if they had enough parts to build them after the order) or go with MTS. I'll say that in the name of money, once Gillig gets its CNG buses going well and it's proven---I would go with Gillig. I know that I'll probably get flamed a bit because of Gillig's reputation and that under LIB, the 500-series Gilligs weren't too good, but they have come a long way. The 1700s and 1800s should stay---but I'd open up replacements for the 1500s and 1600s to sealed competitive bids and pick the low bid.
KeystoneRegional Posted March 22, 2012 Share #28 Posted March 22, 2012 DD's can get around much better than artics, and use existing bust stops as wsell. Yeah, that's what they told me, expect a pilot someday...
N6 Limited Posted March 22, 2012 Share #29 Posted March 22, 2012 That would be useful on the N6, but aren't the LIRR overpasses too low?
Threxx Posted July 4, 2012 Share #30 Posted July 4, 2012 Sorry to bump an old topic, but I would order the RTS-10 CNG 42.5 foot for NICE, as they are durable, inexpensive, and have a higher capacity.
VWM Posted July 6, 2012 Share #31 Posted July 6, 2012 Yeah, a small Artic order for the n22L, and an n6L that would terminate in front of the LIRR Station.
Burrstone Posted July 6, 2012 Author Share #32 Posted July 6, 2012 I'm a big fan fan of MTS and a big supporter of seeing artics and double deckers test buses on higher rider routes like the n4 & n6.
compobus fan Posted July 6, 2012 Share #33 Posted July 6, 2012 True, but wouldn't you think Veolia has a good business relationship with bus builders around the world? They do which is why NABI is not out of the equation. The new CNG model for DART is state of the art, and the Metro 45C would do for the routes that will not support Artics. They also would add capacity during rush hours, and Veolia is using NABI in Vegas as well as Phoenix (where I drove a Compobus) best thing on the streets. Joel Up Front Posted July 12, 2012 Share #41 Posted July 12, 2012 I'll always remember 1578. The rest of the order pre-2003 can go rot.
Orion VII 4 Life Posted July 13, 2012 Share #42 Posted July 13, 2012 Think I've posted in here, but I don't think I said what kind of artic bus I'd order. I'd go LFSA (if possible for CNG) or XN60.
