The Real Posted March 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 30, 2012 Do you have proof of some kind? Yonkers is schedule to be closed and routes to be shuffled around. That has always been the case with this depot, it was not meant to be a permenant fixture. An exact date of closing is not avail.

CDTA Posted March 31, 2012 Share #6 Posted March 31, 2012 Well then, i'm going to have to get some Yonkers Depot pics soon.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted March 31, 2012 Share #7 Posted March 31, 2012 Well that sucks... Why is it closing anyway??
NX Express Posted March 31, 2012 Share #8 Posted March 31, 2012 Probably because it's too small to justify the expense (80 buses is almost nothing). As for the closing date, it's probably one of those it-would-be-good-and-we'll-do-it-eventually things.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted March 31, 2012 Share #9 Posted March 31, 2012 Why not just move other buses to Yonkers then? Is it too small to hold other buses?
NX Express Posted March 31, 2012 Share #10 Posted March 31, 2012 It's pretty far from the city border. That might be another reason why they're closing it. PS Check out Google Map's April Fools trick.

peek717 Posted April 2, 2012 Author Share #13 Posted April 2, 2012 it will be sometime next year like 1-30-2013 or 7-1- 2013 not to sure
Far Rock Depot Posted April 2, 2012 Share #14 Posted April 2, 2012 Far Rockaway has 69 though FR has 5 local routes, 4 express routes, is operating buses 24/7 and has way less deadhead times than Yonkers. Its not about number of buses, but the service it provides, and hours of operations for its routes.
Cait Sith Posted April 2, 2012 Share #15 Posted April 2, 2012 Well that sucks... Why is it closing anyway?? IIRC...Liberty Lines owns the depot and the land (i think), not the MTA
Far Rock Depot Posted April 2, 2012 Share #16 Posted April 2, 2012 IIRC...Liberty Lines owns the depot and the land (i think), not the MTA MTABC owns Yonkers as well as Spring Creek. The following depots are leased to MTABC: JFK, FR, BP and LGA are owned by GBL, JB, and TBC which if anyone knows, was all owned and operated as one company under 3 names. They still own the depots. EC is still owned by the former President of NYBS CP is owned by the City

The Bx7, Bx9 and Bx10 both terminate at the Yonkers' border and you also have the Bx1 and Bx20 that terminate either in or at the Riverdale border. NewFlyer 230 Posted April 3, 2012 Share #18 Posted April 3, 2012 Its been about 6-7 years now why doesn't the MTA fully own all the former PBL depots yet.

SevenEleven Posted April 3, 2012 Share #20 Posted April 3, 2012 Yeah, but even so they could move some other routes to Yonkers Depot. The Bx7, Bx9 and Bx10 both terminate at the Yonkers' border and you also have the Bx1 and Bx20 that terminate either in or at the Riverdale border. That won't happen because NYCB routes can't be moved to MTAB depots and vice versa... At least, not until Regional Bus is fully kicking.
