Very nice afternoon out there.

Some Reroutes

Southbound (N)(R)(W) trains are delayed.

What's Happening?

Our crews are addressing a signal problem at Queensboro Plaza.

Some southbound (R) trains are running on the (F) line from 36 St to 57 St-7 Av.

If your stop is skipped, take a northbound (R) train.

Northbound (W) trains are running on the (Q) line from 57 St-7 Av to 96 St.

You may wait longer for an (F) or (Q)train while they share tracks with rerouted trains.

And all of those buses don’t run overnight or are just completing their final trips.

Seems the entire IND is messed up this morning.

Some southbound (D) trains are running along the (A) line from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Jay St-MetroTech, then along the (F) line to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

(M) trains are not running between Delancey St-Essex St and Forest Hills-71 Av in both directions.

Some southbound (F) trains are running on the (E) line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to Queens Plaza, then along the (G) line to Bergen St.

Some southbound (F) trains are running along the (E) line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq.

Nah, it's just 6 Av. 8 Av seems to be fine for the most part. Honestly with some of the issues here, I think they should've had (W) trains replace the (D) in Brooklyn since (B) trains are suspended anyway. At the very least they should extend some (W) service into Brooklyn because of (D) trains being rerouted via the (F), fill in some of the gaps.

The IND is a mess.

Also, not on the (MTA) website: (F) trains running via the (C) West 4th Street to Jay Street, an(F) train ran via Broadway and via Bridge then via the (D) line in Brooklyn, and an (F) train ran via Brighton.

You don't want that. The (W) is running every 20 minutes between 96th Street and Whitehall Street at the moment.

If the (F) ran via Broadway, might as well completely swap the (D) and (F). I also said, "at the very least they should extend some (W) service into Brooklyn." Not really outright replacing, but to help fill in the gaps.

I mean, if they're running the (W) every 20 minutes, it's almost like if it's not running. It's extra service for 2nd Avenue riders anyway, and the (R) covers the rest of the route (although not perfectly), so if there were gaps, you might as well send the (W) wherever feasibly necessarily.

Part Suspended

(J) service is suspended between Marcy Av and Delancey St-Essex St.

We are troubleshooting a work train with a mechanical problem on the Williamsburg Bridge.

The last stop on Essex St-bound (M) trains will be Marcy Av.

Posted: 03/10/2022 09:58PM

Part Suspended

(L) trains are suspended between Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy and Broadway Junction in both directions.

Our crews are investigating the cause of a train's brakes being activated near Atlantic Av.

The last stop on Canarsie-bound (L) service will be Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs or Broadway Junction.

Expect delays in both directions.

Posted: 03/10/2022 09:46PM

UPDATE:

The reason for the (L) train suspension appears to be a derailment:

Part Suspended

(L) service is suspended between Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy and Broadway Junction.

What's Happening?

A non-passenger train derailed entering the storage yard near Atlantic Av.

The last stop on Canarsie-bound (L) service will be Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs or Broadway Junction.

Expect significant delays in both directions.

Service change on the (L) still ongoing, although shuttle train service AND shuttle bus service is running concurrently south of Broadway Junction. LIRR is cross-honoring (presumably to Atlantic Terminal), and no trains are stopping at Atlantic Ave.

Multiple Changes

(L) service is extremely limited between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.

Take a shuttle bus between those stations.

(L) service between Brooklyn and Manhattan is also less frequent. Expect longer waits.

What Happened?

A non-passenger train derailed entering the storage yard near Atlantic Av.

Alternatives:

Take a shuttle bus for stations between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.

Consider taking a (3) train at Livonia Av, transferring to an (A)(C) or (J) train at Broadway Junction, an (M) train at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, or a (G) train at Metropolitan Av-Lorimer St.

Consider taking LIRR at Atlantic Av by showing the conductor your MetroCard or OMNY card/device. See schedules at https://new.mta.info/schedules.

See a station agent to receive a courtesy pass for local bus service.

Take the B6 bus to the (3) line at New Lots Av.

Take the B17 bus to the (3)(4) line at Crown Hts-Utica Av.

Take the B60 bus to the (3) at Rockaway Av.

Service Changes:

(L) trains are operating in two sections:

Between 8 Av and Broadway Junction, approximately every 8-10 minutes.

Between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, bypassing Atlantic Av, approximately every 24 minutes.

So this is why the (L) is split.

In other news:

Trains Rerouted

Southbound (B) and (Q) trains are rerouted in Brooklyn while we investigate why a train's brakes activated near Parkside Av.

Southbound (B) trains are running along the (D) line from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Southbound (Q) trains are running along the (N) line from DeKalb Av to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Part Suspended

There is no Manhattan-bound (J)(M) service from Brooklyn into Manhattan while we work to address a switch problem near Delancey St-Essex St.

Manhattan-bound (J)(M) trains will end at Hewes St.

Expect delays in (J)(M) service in both directions.

Alternatives

For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take (A)(C)(L) trains. Transfer at Broadway Junction from (J) trains and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs from (M) trains.

For service between Kosciuszko St and Marcy Av, take B46 buses.

For service between Marcy Av and Delancey St-Essex St, take B39 buses.

Interesting. Why did they turn at Hewes and not Marcy? I assumed that in a situation like this, they would use the switches east of Marcy to turn trains around, making their last stop at Marcy.

No switches south of Astoria Boulevard to turn extra trains, and no redundant connection between 2 Avenue and Broadway (local tracks) to avert the costlier alternative of routing trains via 6 Avenue…

Part Suspended

There is no (F) service between Jay St-MetroTech and Church Av.

There is no (G) service between 4 Av-9 St and Church Av.

(F)(G) trains are delayed in both directions while emergency teams provide assistance to someone who was struck by a train at 7 Av.

The last stop on southbound (F) trains will be Bergen St.

How is this possible? If the (F) trains are stopping at and then turning at Bergen Street, (G) trains cannot pass. Did they rehabilitate the lower level that nobody knew about?
