Trains Rerouted

(F) trains are running along the M in both directions between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr and Queens Plaza.

Our crews are currently conducting an investigation at 21 St-Queensbridge.

There is no (F) service at 57 St, Lexington Av/63 St or 21 St-Queensbridge.

For service to/from Lexington Av/63 St, take the (Q) train.

For service to/from 57 St, use the nearby 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr station.

For service to/from Roosevelt Island, use Q102 bus or see buses near you at bustime.mta.info.

See a station agent to request a free courtesy pass for alternate subway/bus service.

Don't they mean (E)? They've generally been consistent in that they only use letters/numbers of trains running at that time. Since the (M) doesn't run there at 2 AM, it's not the (M) line.

Idk how the Q102 bus suggestion was useful saying the the Q102 ends service between 12-1 AM depending on the direction so you can’t really use that.

On a technicality, it is the route of the (M). I mean let's look back at what route the (M) was using when it was rerouted to 145 St a few times or to 168 St, it was saying "via the (B) line."

It's always sad when someone's struck by a train, but there's an apparent weak point in the power grid in the South Bronx. How does a power off situation down there affect such a wide area?

No 2 4 5 6 trains between the Bronx and Manhattan.

Emergency teams are assisting a person who was struck by a train at Brook Av.

Service Changes:

2

Northbound trains are running on the 1 line from 96 St to 137 St-City College.

Some trains are holding in stations between Central Park North (110 St) and E 180 St in both directions

4

Southbound trains are ending at 149 St-Grand Concourse.

Northbound trains are ending at Grand Central-42 St or 86 St.

5

Southbound trains are ending holding in stations in the Bronx.

Northbound trains are ending at Grand Central-42 St or 86 St.

6

Southbound trains are ending at Hunts Point Av

Northbound trains are ending at Grand Central-42 St or 86 St.

I’m not too sure about the power grid over there nowadays but back in my time the   signal tower at 149st-Grand Concourse controlled the (6) line from 125 and Lexington to Brook, the (4) line up to 167 st, the (5) up to Jackson/ Prospect and the (2) from the Lenox Avenue junction northbound. I’m guessing that the power grid is basically the same thing even today. I happened to be in the tower one night when power was out and the tower operator showed me the layout. There’s an unmanned satellite tower at 138th and 3rd on the (6) that got some use when I worked work trains late nights in the area. When I was a rookie C/R at Lenox on the (3) the Command Center would tell Lenox to shutdown when an incident like this happened in that area. Hope this helps answer your question. Carry on.

When did they start being considerate of passengers?

They’re not. They’re just covering their butts against lawsuits from passengers if the incident takes a long time to clear up. Signal problems are very variable with wait times between start and finish. Express stations are spaced further inbetween and local stops have more platforms for passengers to escape should the need arise. The idea is to not have trains completely stuck between stations for hours on end. If that’s the case what ends up happening in “longer incidents” Is that the trains inbetween stations are sent to the following station and discharged by having passengers walk to the train immediately in the front and exit thru that train
