They actually had signal problems so (R) and (N) were running via (F) on the 63rd st tunnel (the one that goes through roosevelt island station).

This should have included at least one R160! B)

- A

So the R160's successfully work on the (F) without problems I gather.

After November hopefully all this peak track work is over for good. Its crazy.

No (N)s went that way that day. You misread something because it said (N)s and (W)s were running to Queens with delays. They probably had problems with the switch that sends the (R) onto the Queens Blvd line.

So far no R160 has appeared on the (F). Tons of service advisories on the line for electrical work and track work so if R160 do appear on the (F) we shall see within a month or two.

The (E) and (F) lines are really in poor shape with loads of work needing to be done which is never ending.

Of course R160s haven't entered service on the (F), I would've been gotten photos already. :D

But yeah, they could run them on the (F), but they don't really need to at the moment. They're coming soon nuff at the rate those R160s just come in.

I really want them on the (F). but.......................

i doubt they might have it this week because R160s are limited right now since they are operating on the (N), (Q), and (W). when they have the second option of R160s then they will definetely run the on R160B. but i don't see them in service 'till at least Christmas

i was coming off the GW Bridge yesterday and saw four oversize trucks hauling new fresh r160 cars waiting to be escorted over the bridge to the city i often see couple of weeks prior headed in from Pa. and saw another one on a truck coming down I78 east-bound...i get to see plenty of new cars on trucks being a trucker myself

why doesnt the (MTA) utilize the diamond symbols for rush hour service anymore? just for peak express service or something like that?

That's been the case for a few years now. IIRC, the (MTA) stopped using them because their use was inconsistent to begin with. They appeared on the map, some station signs, but not most rollsigns, and not usually at station entrances. Therefore it was decided that they would only be used to display peak- direction express service on the <6> & <7> which was not their original intention.

As much as I missed seeing the redbirds go, one of things I liked about the R-142s was that they had the ability to display the diamond in the front LED and interior displays for any route. I remember seeing the <4> & <5> as well as the <6> which I was glad to see since I had always thought that rollsigns for other lines which appeared as diamonds on the map should have displayed them also. Like the (:),(D), & (M) which all had sections of their routes shown as diamonds.

And yes, the R-46s are good cars and there's no reason why they "need" to leave the (F) as some here are suggesting.

They do need them though....

Nope. (F) has the priority for them now.

I understand that they will likely be getting them since crews are being qualified, but what is the reason for the (F) in particular "needing" them to the point where is such a priority? Are there now similar dwell-time problems because of less doors with R-46s?

according to r160b 8713, all of A1 are delivered, so alstom will begin delivering the rest of the A2s soon

They will be replacing the R32's thats on the (F)ox now..

Most of the Fleet will be R46's still..

Oh okay, thanks. That makes sense. I wonder if this means the (R) might at some point see R-160s in place of their mainly-rush-hour R-32s or if it will become completely R-46 if more are freed up from the (F).
