alekr Posted September 12, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2014 I noticed that for the weekend of Sept 20th-22nd the is not running from 74th street to Times Square. I noticed that under alternative travel note it states: "LIRR will honor MetroCard for service between Woodside (61 St) and Penn Station." Does that mean the cross-honoring on the LIRR only for the direction toward Penn Station from Woodside. Or can be used in both directions from Penn Station to Woodside only? MysteriousBtrain Posted September 12, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2014 well it looks like that you can use your metrocard both ways, dosen't say anything about one direction only
QM1to6Ave Posted September 12, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2014 How does that work? Do they have a special metro card turnstile or something set up? If imagine it pisses off everyone who bought tickets to se people ride for 2.50!

Union Tpke Posted September 12, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2014 That's awesome. I'm surprised LIRR is willing to cross honor you can just show them a card that is old or with no money!

bstar1 Posted September 13, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 13, 2014 So if a usual 7 train rider takes a train from Penn station to woodside without a ticket how does that work what do u say to ticket collector or conducters
Lance Posted September 14, 2014 Share #10 Posted September 14, 2014 The LIRR conductors probably don't even bother to make the rounds between Woodside and Penn during these outages on the 7-line.
R32 3838 Posted September 14, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 14, 2014 They should start the cross honoring at main st like before, 61st woodside is the wrong place for that
Kamen Rider Posted September 14, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 14, 2014 More than once for me they haven't bothered period.
alekr Posted September 14, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted September 14, 2014 They should start the cross honoring at main st like before, 61st woodside is the wrong place for that There is service running and it is not a ideal place to cross honor. If the stop running COMPLETELY then they will do that. Plus the LIRR frequency on the Port Washington Branch is not that great 30 minutes headways on weekend. While Woodside has multiple trains stopping there so it quicker to pick up passengers. 3-5 minutes between headways at Woodside. So if a usual 7 train rider takes a train from Penn station to woodside without a ticket how does that work what do u say to ticket collector or conducters They will check on you if the is running normally. The MTA might had informed the LIRR conductors. The last time when the 7 train shutdown I showed them my phone with the MTA site showing the LIRR cross honoring and they accepted it.
