R1Toasty 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2008 I don't know about that, it's possible, but wikipedia??? c'mon... Wikipedia isn't just a big pile of lies... but I can't deny the possibility of it not being true. 90 cars left would mean around 9 trains, so the article probably has some truth to it... ah well, they have to go sometime... R1Toasty 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 29, 2008 Oh thanks for the info. When were they put into service? The R40s were introduced in 1967-69... too bad they couldn't stick around for a few more years, but I guess they got their 40 years like most of the other cars. mark1447 685 Posted September 29, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 29, 2008 you know i thought there was something werird I thought the 38s would retire before the 40s, i guess the 40S are being retired due to its slant ends which could cause danger while crossing or i could be wrong

While I have not been getting the numbers of the newest cars being reefed (they're taking off the number plates now), there's at MAX 140 slants left, and I last put thatn umber in around June. Now there's only about 90 slants left, I suppose.
