With the using less trains after today until next year, there's a possibility of exactly that happening. There's supposed to be an increase in service starting on Monday (August 28). A solid guess would be a few R-46 trainsets are to be transferred to Coney from Pitkin along with a few R-179s from the . I wonder how many R-46 will be on the road come Monday.

Only 1 train in each direction but may have another 8-car train as well for spare. These two R160A-1s were sent back to East New York. However, they (ENY 4-car sets) are in rotation of 2 8 car trains out of Jamaica Yard for the 63rd St Shuttle. The track between 57 St and Lexington Av-63 St may still be in service hence the switching of car numbers from my guess. They just use the nassau cut and broadway to deadhead them. this is why you see shuttle cars go back to the . Those cars still get inspected at ENY. Why do the shuttles relay west of Lexington Av-63 St, instead of just turn around right there? I thought the track just past Lex-63 St was out of service, hence the only having one track at 57 St/6 Av to turn equipment around and the garbage headways during rush hours. and if the Broadway crossover to the 63 St shuttle is still open, why isn’t the shuffle being operated with R46s, so that way the ENY R160s can just stay in ENY Edited September 11, 2023 by darkstar8983

The train makes that move so it can get behind a homeball so the direction of traffic can be changed by the tower. R160's are much more dependable than the R46's. Plus, ENY cars are available because of the M line being shortened.
