So they're just cannibalizing those married pairs at this point? I figured they would save one for the NYTM rather than a 4 car set.

Maybe the last one to stay in service will be for the museum

I think they'll keep whichever married pair is in the best condition just for space reasons. If not maybe they take a 4 car set and scrap the B cars while keeping the A ones.

Can an R44 run linked to a R46? The single R44 they preserved is basically a static exhibit with that blind end, so if they can link it to a 46 maybe they can run it. I don't think you can link a 46 to a SMEE, NTT or R68 so they could have issues running it on a fan trip when today they can just link a 32, 38, 40 and 42 together

8485-8488, 8641-8644 are on the (C).

As of today, 40-48 cars (5-6 8-car trains) are rotated out of ENY, as 8601-8604 are spotted on the (M) yesterday. Some cars are still stuck on the (C) like 9967-9970 while others are switched.

In your case, I think it’d be best to list 40 cars rotated to and from the (C) from ENY if they’re not going to be the same cars. This way, you won’t need to keep updating it.

The fleet assignment at Pitkin Yard is switched but only a little: the R179s are moved over in-use to the Rockaway Park Shuttle (2 10-car sets) but the (A) uses 11 total (that's in-service and for spares). The R46s are placed on the Fulton St line (A) (C) for now.

Are they trying to keep the 46s off the shuttle because of the corrosion from the sea air above the bay?

Neither, it's an early replacement as the fleet will have to transition. Just like when they had the R44s back then.

I concur. The same exact cars aren't sticking around until next year like many people thought. Speaking of those cars, R160 cars 8381-8384 made their way back to ENY.

The (A) uses about 9-10 sets now. The Rockaway shuttle uses 3 sets of R179s now so there's 3 5 car units as spares now (a trainset and a half).

Any updates on the Alstom R160A-2 with the Zoho One wrap on car no. 9348, which had the broken headlight? It was running on the (G) Train when it had the broken headlight on Friday, March 1st, 2024. Do you guys know which line that set is running at right now? And, does it still have the broken headlight or did the maintenance crew at Jamaica/Coney Island Yard fixed and replaced the headlight?

I saw it on the (G) yesterday, They probably fixed by now since that's an easy fix.

I wouldn't jump the gun on that, They might be stripped some parts while awaiting new parts so i wouldn't list it as retired.

I don't believe this. I agree with the post above. The 142s are only 25 years old max. Why would they start retiring now?

Yeah, because look at the R46s they’re almost 46-49 years old and haven’t even started officially retiring yet.

What did I miss? Why is that unit OOS and being stripped of parts?
