Pablo M 201 Posted January 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for the link, but Megabus is still better than Greyhound Different service concepts, can't compare them. And with those fools at CoachUSA being the operators of the service.....mm.... Thank you Greyhound for Bolt Bus.

Paul P Posted January 5, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 5, 2010 They can bribe me all they want with wireless internet (which is probably slow anyway) but I'm not riding buses for long distance travel because we all very well know how much it sucks (yes, Greyhound too).

I got one of their older buses going up but got a bus with Wi-Fi and power plugs coming back down (wasn't this bus as well). The wi-fi was slooww but hey, better than nothing. I think they've improved compared to the last trip which I did years ago to New Orleans which was a drag.

Pablo M 201 Posted January 5, 2010 Share #14 Posted January 5, 2010 Greyhound Canada has been using them for a while. It's just been pushed into service in the US in the past few months. The new ones, with that blue and gray retro scheme, are new and have been in service here for some time now, but Greyhound have had X3-45s in the U.S. services since 2008 in that white scheme that 553 Express showed in the 2nd video he linked. Those were the ones Greyhound got after Bolt Bus commenced service and had their units.

ML111 Posted January 5, 2010 Share #16 Posted January 5, 2010 To add to what Pablo has already mentioned, the first order placed back in 2008 for the X3-45's was for 50 units - 33 to start Bolt (0800-0832) and 17 for Northeast-based GLI services, which were primarily used on NY-Atlantic City and Philadelphia services. During the spring of 2009, an order for 100+ X3's was delivered, resulting in 38 more vehicles for Bolt (0833-0871) and several for GLI's Northeast and New York State/Canada operations. That order featured all leather-seating, wi-fi connectivity, plug-in outlets, cup holders and a new standard of 50 seats total on the vehicle (instead of the industry norm of 54-56 passengers). This spring, a new batch of X3's totaling 130 vehicles will be delivered - they will be placed into service in other areas of the country, however, from what I have heard, not all of them will be placed in GLI service. A few people have mentioned that there is another order currently being financed to order another 350 X3's to replace the rest of the MC-12s and D3's in the fleet later in the year. In addition, the original 17 X3's in the 2008 order pressed into GLI service are all now dedicated to Lucky Steak casino service in New York and are all being repainted and retro-fitted to match the features of the 2009 X3's (except the leather seating). DOB2RTO Posted January 9, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 9, 2010 The idea of traveling abroad or just cross country with a bus is just so depressing... Rode Greyhound twice to Orlando Florida when I was younger. 23hrs, second time, the 1st time was 25hrs. Driver got lost, and we stopped too many places. I'd rather drive my own vehicle (with another driver that I trust), and get there in 18hrs..........

ML111 Posted January 9, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 9, 2010 A Greyhound bus driver gets lost on his own route? Then again, they are private... Actually it's more of a semi-regular occurrence these days...extra board drivers are given any and every available job from their home terminal, no matter if they have worked the job or not or if they are familiar with the area. A lot of the time, the driver will go out on the run with a piece of paper with directions and guidance from dispatch.

Got lost on a straight run to Florida on 95 South? Me and my friend drove to Miami for a vacation and got there in 17hrs. I put my radar dector on and keep it at 100 most of the way. And farther down on 95 south the speed limit is 70-75. A freind of mine that works out of Meadowlands who worked the 319 for the 1st time took Exit 38A West(camden/philadelphia) for the AC Expressway and ended up near Deptford Mall in South Jersey. All he was told was Garden State Parkway South, Exit 81 for Toms River Park-n-Ride and Exit 38 East for the AC Bus Terminal. To add more of a stress from him a Washington TWP driver spotted him at the Mall were the 400 runs and asked him what the 319 was doing there and lead him back to AC. And the funny thing. traildriver Posted January 10, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 10, 2010 Greyhound Canada pools buses between Toronto, Buffalo, and New York City with both Greyhound Lines (US), and New York Trailways. Greyhound Canada has some MCI D4500's, and some DL3's in this pool. On rare occasions you might see an old GLC Prevost H3-45 on these trips. They also had some second hand Prevost Mirage XL II's in the recent past. Greyhound (US) uses mostly the new X3-45's, and DL3's for extra sections. New York Trailways uses mostly new Prevost H3-45's on first sections that are additionally marked as "Neon", as are some of the GLC D4500's marked "Neon". Second sections can be Mirage XLII's, MCI J4500's, etc.
