R10 2952 Posted June 18, 2010 Share #26 Posted June 18, 2010 What is this I hear about the using CIY, will it use different cars if it goes, does CIY want R46s, I also heard JY hates R68s How could Jamaica Yard hate something that they've never had? LRG Posted June 18, 2010 Share #28 Posted June 18, 2010 How could Jamaica Yard hate something that they've never had? Some yards are very biased when it comes to what equipment they have. When Westchester Yard had the R62As and the Westinghouse R29s they treated the R62As well but the R29s they didn't give a hoot about. They ran them into the ground! NX Express Posted June 18, 2010 Share #31 Posted June 18, 2010 Hold on, since the and share Astoria-Ditmars as a terminal, shouldn't they both be getting R160s?
2Line1291 Posted June 18, 2010 Share #32 Posted June 18, 2010 Hold on, since the and share Astoria-Ditmars as a terminal, shouldn't they both be getting R160s? are getting R160's that used to run on the so that should almost make them 100% R160. NX Express Posted June 18, 2010 Share #33 Posted June 18, 2010 are getting R160's that used to run on the so that should almost make them 100% R160. But what about this?... And Now the the (N)/(Q), Rumors are flying that they want the to be 100% R160 (I don't support that) and the takes the (Q)'s R68's/A's
2Line1291 Posted June 18, 2010 Share #34 Posted June 18, 2010 I don't get it..... if the and is going to have the same terminals then why does it matter for the or to be 100% R160 or R68/A's going to the if they already on the ?

LRG Posted June 18, 2010 Share #36 Posted June 18, 2010 If either the or the had R68s it wouldn't be that big of a deal when it comes to rollsigns...why? and are right next to each other so it won't be much of a hassle, trust me.
S78 via Hylan Posted June 19, 2010 Share #37 Posted June 19, 2010 I hope those rumors about the getting 68/A's back is gonna come true. Nah, I want the to stay the way it is. Let the keep the R68/A's.
Brighton Local Posted June 19, 2010 Share #38 Posted June 19, 2010 They probably don't want to change the rollsigns on the Late night & weekend Trains to/from 57 St/7 Av. I mean it is only 2 scrolls away from 57 St: Astoria-Ditmars Blvd Queensboro Plaza Midtown-57 St/7 Av And the is 2 scrolls away from the : <-><-> I hope the continues on what it has now; Half Hippo / Half NTT, Or hippo all the way! T to Dyre Avenue Posted June 19, 2010 Share #39 Posted June 19, 2010 I think the and the should both be mixes of 68s and 160s, especially if they're both terminating at Ditmars/Astoria. Some yards are very biased when it comes to what equipment they have. When Westchester Yard had the R62As and the Westinghouse R29s they treated the R62As well but the R29s they didn't give a hoot about. They ran them into the ground! I remember that well. I rode the frequently while in high school and during the summers between grades. Their R62As looked and ran great, but the R29s felt like they needed to be put out to pasture. But I can only wonder what Westchester Yard will do if they get their 62As back and have to send their R142As to the . Will they still treat them well, as if they never left? Or will they run them into the ground like they did with the 29s because they're older cars now?

Ms. W Supporter Posted June 19, 2010 Share #44 Posted June 19, 2010 I really hope the keeps its 68s/68A's Yes!! I admit, seeing the yellow infront the train looks cool... LET THE be R160s, they betta than the old R68s No! The new trains are so boring. They just seem cramped and have no window seats. Those automated messages get a little annoying after awhile.. I've been on some crowded trains coming home, so I do like the idea of that line getting all the R160s. It's not 'fun' when having to stand b/w the forward facing seats. The has been boring with like 90-95% R160s. Plus the brighton line will still have R68s on the (. Also they really need to do something about the . Jamaica yard should just give that up to CI yard and let go of more R46s. The is (will be) a boring long ride. I prefer the (awesome) R68a on an express route. I just assume there would be more room/space on an "older" train. The new ones seem to get crowded faster and just seem more cramped overall. S78 via Hylan Posted June 20, 2010 Share #50 Posted June 20, 2010 When because I haven't seen an R68/A on since the R160 invasion. I saw one about a few weeks ago on the on the Manhattan Bridge. Yes there are many R160's on the , but it is very rare the find an R68/A on the line just how the R160s almost dominated the , but there are still R46's roaming around on it. It also depends on what station you look for it.
