trainfan22 Posted August 4, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2011 I admit it, I foamed watching that video. B) Love the propulsion sound at the end! I see the automated announcements are vastly different than the 142/143/160s.
Roadcruiser1 Posted August 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted August 4, 2011 Their propulsion system sounds a lot like a low pitch R160A or R160B. Their announcement system sounds like a high pitch version of the lady that does the voices for the R160's.
Joel Up Front Posted August 4, 2011 Share #7 Posted August 4, 2011 Not even the numerous employees walking around or the cops cared about the guy with the hulking video camera. It was the '90s, and we never thought that we could store things digitally...

R68 Subway Car Posted August 4, 2011 Share #11 Posted August 4, 2011 Incredible video. It is great the MTA actually had trains to test out New Tech Technology. If only they did this with the R44 and R46.

4P3607 Posted August 4, 2011 Share #13 Posted August 4, 2011 Good times. Well that woman in the video who said "OMG look everybody he has a video camera! Say Hi!" If it was post-2001, she would have been like "Why are you recording me? are you some kind of terrorist? Put that camera away now. _______________________________________________ I actually love:tup: those announcement on the R131 MUCH better than the current ones. They are very clear and audible. LRG Posted August 4, 2011 Share #14 Posted August 4, 2011 I don't even know why the guy asked if he should post the full version...as if that's an option!!! Hahahaha I never rode those suckers, only the R110As on the and ...it'd be great to see something done with them rather than to just sit in the yards rotting away. Oh well.... Nice find man! Roadcruiser1 Posted August 5, 2011 Share #19 Posted August 5, 2011 They should have had ordered 108 R110B cars to make 12 trains, and 120 R110A cars to make 12 trains. It would have had made them cheaper, and they would still be running on the subway lines that they were put on. They might have had even been built to have had last longer. Joe Posted August 5, 2011 Share #22 Posted August 5, 2011 At least they might have had last longer. I seriously want to rail fan them in their glory lol. They weren't supposed to last long. The purpose of the 110A/Bs was to test various new features that had not yet been implemented in the TA system yet.

Otherwise the R142s are here, there's no need to bring the R110A back. R110B, i never understood why it was a 9-car train. It's a total oddball. If it had been a 60' car or 75' car train, then it would've been better imo.
St Louis Car 09 Posted August 5, 2011 Share #25 Posted August 5, 2011 What shocks me is that no else had a video camera.Like that one chick in the video that blurted out ."OMG look everybody he has a video camera! Say Hi!".....A time before camera phones. There were many railfanners back then, but with little equipment to record sweet finds and catches A la 1993.
