If anything, it would make more sense for Jamaica to send buses directly to FB/FP.

It's referred as a Quantum Self-Securement station as riders with wheelchairs can secure their seating space with a button push. For now, it's on the M7. Gun Hill is getting chargers for their incoming Hydrogen-Electric Xcelsiors and for support for a future fleet of electric buses. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll get XEs from this order. Jamaica is getting them with the construction of the new depot. So they aren't getting XEs any time soon. Eastchester is getting them, but they're not getting any from this order. Quill was supposed to get a piece of this order, but from what I've heard, that's not happening. What is guaranteed is that Grand Avenue, Kingsbridge, Charleston, and East New York are getting them. My guess is that it'll be 15 each. Edited July 28, 2023 by Cait Sith

It is a separated contract from reconstruction… why would they install chargers this early if Jamaica isn’t getting XE40s? That image you posted was released before they made the announcement that Jamaica and MJQ were getting XE40s… please read their earth day announcement. Jamaica gantry installation is a separate contract. Check the financial book from board meetings.

xD4nn Posted July 28, 2023 Share #6187 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) Also that image you posted of the 60 XE40s does not mention which depots are getting XE40s. The depots mentioned are getting chargers installed. The wording is ambiguous but it’s saying that those depots will get chargers. Michael J Quill already has XE40 infrastructure and Jamaica gantry installation is packaged with redesign but still a separate contract. And with the ongoing construction that's been going on at Quill, word is that they're gonna be out of the order. I have checked, and yes, it has been mentioned that Jamaica will get charging infrastructure to support the buses. The Earth Day announcement(s) also ties to Jamaica getting a new facility which will make them the first Zero-Emissions depot with support up to 60 electric buses by 2026. Wording isn't actually accurate as to whether they'll get any from this order or not. Grand Avenue(extra chargers + modifications) and Kingsbridge already got theirs ready to go, and ENY and Charleston have been getting prepped prior to the delays. Jamaica hasn't seen anything yet. Okay, but plans can change. Just because they said something, doesn't make it solid, and it's not the first time that they announced something and plans changed. They announced that the intital 10 pilots we had were supposed to be swapped between both Quill and Grand for evaluation and testing, but that never happened because again, plans changed(due to the Proterras failing a state mandated brake test). The only way we'll know for sure is when actual assignments are announced, and when they actually start showing up to the depots.
MysteriousBtrain Posted July 28, 2023 Share #6191 Posted July 28, 2023 From what I'm hearing, it makes sense for these changes Quill already is operating Electric units (with/without reconstruction) so they could get away with not getting AEBs without too much political pressure, and with everything with MTA, the delay of Jamaica Depot construction could push AEBs away from there to go elsewhere. That leaves the original 4 depots which are: 3 hours ago, Cait Sith said: Grand Avenue, Kingsbridge, Charleston, and East New York I could see a 15/15/15/15 split because no other depots are getting/planned to get electric units at this time.

Cait Sith Posted August 1, 2023 Share #6193 Posted August 1, 2023 (edited) Two XE40 pilots are nearby and have the high temperature battery warnings installed. They will be out of Quill and KB, visiting ENY, Charleston and Grand Avenue. No word on Jamaica Depot seeing these yet. Calvin Posted August 5, 2023 Share #6194 Posted August 5, 2023 (edited) The recent MTA Bus LFS do not have the fare stickers yet but all have the stroller mark. At Baisley Park, 8964 doesn't have the fare sticker but might be hitting service past August 20th or before that day. But, last I checked, they sent a few units over to Fresh Pond (7105-7106) to move the Next Gens needed for retirement from the condition they were in. Although, Casey Stengel may have a lot of buses in the depot (244 buses inside that has unit 4473 included) that they needed to move some buses taking up room at the depot to another depot like East New York. Would also be that they don't need them anymore with the recent NYC LFS order close to being finished. And it doesn't help that the XE40 order is currently delayed. Hopefully all of these issues will be resolved soon.
Calvin Posted September 20, 2023 Share #6198 Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) 8914 and 8946 are left to be delivered in NYCT. They will be bound for Casey Stengel and after those two are delivered, this will finish the 2020-22 Smartbus order for them. After that, the delivery progress will move on to MTA Bus. However, so far, Baisley Park has no gap in number delivery like how NYCT was. It's delivered between 8964-9008 that's equal to 45 units if all were there in the future. Calvin Posted October 2, 2023 Share #6199 Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) For now, I noticed the recent loans that’s happening at this time is out of Tuskegee Airmen and at College Point. Not sure if College Point has CNG units short on units but, Tuskegee Airmen has been cycling units due to poor maintenance via the transfers thread. Honestly, it's nice seeing NG running on CP routes on their final days. But as for CP, I believe this has happened in the past when they do scheduled maintenance of the fleet.
