With Baisley Park receiving more LFS units after finishing their removal of old generation hybrid units, their Next Gen units will move over to JFK so, they’ll be able to retire their own old gen units. Although, 4 of the old generation units are still okay for service that they moved them over there to replace the ones that aren’t in good condition. The retirement process (as of 10.9.23) will take place at JFK, LGA will be soon but not now as they have majority of next gen units and no new LFS and XD-40s are there delivered yet.

* Baisley Park may retire some next generation units but that’s if the condition is not good like 3990 and 4338.
* There may be some old gen units at JFK with the 30 amount Next Gens moved from BP. However, those are replaced with the future bus order. And, LGA still has 2 old hybrids out and about.

MTA Bus is focusing on old generation hybrids for now.

JA is sending loans to Stengel because Stengel is short. Nothing to do with the water main replacement. QV has not sent anything to Stengel. This has been happening for the past few days.

How was stengel short when they still have a surplus of buses at the depot? Are the Novas still having teething issues or is it something else?

Allegedly, the real reason is because of construction in the area closing certain streets, which makes buses take longer to head out. Dosent seen like a fleet shortage, more like service delays.

Stengel has been taking buses from JA before the construction started.

Maybe part of it has to do with those XD40s that Stengel has. You know they have the worst batch of them in the entire city. Or maybe some buses are just receiving SMS.

I recently tracked the XD40s and most of them are running. I would assume that the new novas have teething issues.

Question for the 2023 XD40 batch for MTA bus:

Ik LFS didn't get a test batch for MTA bus due to the NYCT order being nearly identical. Is 9355 supposed to be a demo unit of is the XD40 order for MTA skipping the pilot process, which almost doesn't make sense since the NYCT batch finished a while ago and probably needs to do some testing at ECH.

Because every time bused pull in, maintenance grabs them for inspection "when we get around to it" and they sit there for weeks.

Credit: r142a_7795 on YouTube. The New XD-40s that'll be assigned for now, Eastchester and soon JFK and LGA are similar to the NYC Bus units, 7851-7989. Bike Racks are not shown. Although, they may/will be moved over from the Next Gens to the XD-40s when the current model they're using, the VII Next Generation starts retirement.

When they receive a few more of the newer XD-40 units, the training units out of LGA will go back to its said depot or some to JFK to get familiar with the standard units.

Will Eastchester replace Gun Hill for training bus supplementation?

For the next 250 express bus order to (MTA)Bus Co., Prevost was awarded the contract. There is also an option order of 131 more buses if needed. Deliveries are scheduled to start from April 2025 to August 2026 with 15 units per month. If the (MTA)accepts the option order, then deliveries would start from August 2026 to March 2027 with 16-17 units per month. This order will replace all MCI D4500CLs and MCI D4500CTs. This could also add some fleet expansion if the (MTA)accepts the option order.

This must be funded by bond or state money, since Prevost will be building these buses in Quebec and thus the contract would not met the federal 'Buy America' rules.

The Buy America Act does not affect Canada...
"Buy American requirements also do not apply to Canada for U.S. federal purchases covered by the revised World Trade Organization Agreement on Government Procurement (WTO GPA), to which Canada, the U.S. and 46 other countries are Parties. When bidding on U.S. federal procurements covered by these agreements, Canadian suppliers benefit from the same treatment as American suppliers. There are also exceptions in the Buy American Act for the acquisition of commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) items."

All vehicles not built in the country and bought by a public agency must be 100% funded without state funding or bonds. This order is 100% funded by MTA and not NY state funds or bonds.

So according to a (UlmerPark) operator, 2 out of the 5 Electric mta VanHools were spotted. Not comfirmed as of yet if they were mta but an investigation is going underway on this sighting

As to not clog up the delivers thread I'm replying here.

But since when was the MTA getting VanHools? Also are they coach or transit buses?

Between October 2022 and October 2023, they made a procurement for 5 Van-Hools.

I wonder if they ended up leasing the CX45E based on the listing saying they're leasing electric buses from Van Hool.

I wouldn't know if there will be the commuter version of the CX45E.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a commuter VanHool I’m excited as to what that could be like. Though I’d expect the demo unit’s won’t be very customized for the MTA. That might not happen unless a full order comes around.

It looks like New Flyer was awarded the 245 articulated bus base order. If the options are approved, then the(MTA)would get 691 XD60s. The pilots would arrive in January 2025, and will start delivery in August of that year. It would be completed by November 2027.

Also looks like nova is out of the running for future orders since the MTA stated "Nova Bus ultimately withdrew its proposal prior to submitting a Best and Final Offer ('BAFO') as it decided to close its US manufacturing facility."
