S78 via Hylan Posted February 24, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2012 Some 1996-97 RTS still have some blackbacks as well as some 1998-99's. As for the 1997-98 (9350-9699), I think ALL of those have been repainted.

As for the 1997-98 (9350-9699), I think ALL of those have been repainted. Not #9529. That one has been a blackback for as long as I can remember. Also the same goes for #4907 & another RTS in the upper 5XXX serie whih can remember.

Also the same goes for #4907 & another RTS in the upper 5XXX serie whih can remember. Well, except 9529, I think all the RTS in the 1997-98 order all all whitebacked. When I said they were all whitebacked, I was not talking about the 4900-5249 RTS's.
Gong Gahou Posted February 24, 2012 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2012 Yep, there still is. I see them in Brooklyn with the B6/B41. I took these two shots below. That's how they looked like as of February 7th. I don't know if anything happened to these two buses so far. However, I saw another one yesterday on the B6, so you can still see RTSs with black backs now and then. But it's only a matter of time before they get repainted or scrapped. Grand Concourse Posted February 25, 2012 Share #11 Posted February 25, 2012 If a bus gets a full repaint, only then will it be whitebacked. Lately it doesn't look like 'random' buses are being taken out for just a repaint of the back. So as the others here said, plenty of blackbacked buses around. Some FB buses have mismatched panels. so the top can be white and the bottom black, and vice versa.

Gong Gahou Posted March 2, 2012 Share #14 Posted March 2, 2012 Take 5194 off the list - it's been repainted. I wish they kept the blue stripe running around the body of the bus, but they had to sever it at the back.
4P3607 Posted March 2, 2012 Share #15 Posted March 2, 2012 There a quite a few around, I rode one today out of LGA. I also wanted to ask, how many of the 35xx-37xx's Hybrid Orion VII 1st Gens are still blackback? I think only about 5 at LGA 3700's are still BB. A number of JFK Orions still are BB, but very fewer now since they are getting repainted.

East New York Posted March 2, 2012 Share #17 Posted March 2, 2012 Many more 5100s and 5200s than that left blackbacked. If I'm not mistaken, those are: 5102-5104, 5106-5107, 5109, 5111, 5113-5115, 5119, 5126-5127, 5129-5130, 5132, 5135, 5137, 5141, 5145-5146, 5149-5152, 5155-5157, 5161, 5167-5168, 5174, 5176-5182, 5184, 5189-5190, 5192, 5194-5200, 5202, 5204, 5230-5231, 5235, 5239. A few of those have been repainted, but I'm going off the list and the ones I've personally seen as blackbacks and repainted. 5199 just passed me on the B44, and it still has it's blackback. Im beginning to think those will just be painted as each bus is overhauled.

Fresh Pond Posted March 2, 2012 Share #20 Posted March 2, 2012 You can take 5102 off that list. It was rehabbed about a week or 2 ago and its repainted
