GojiMet86 Posted December 11, 2012 Share #26 Posted December 11, 2012 I didn't see anything today for the 2:30 P.M. run. Then again, it rained.

GojiMet86 Posted December 12, 2012 Share #29 Posted December 12, 2012 They had #3100, #2969, and #9098 (in that order) all running on the M42 today for the 2:30 run. I rode them all.

GojiMet86 Posted December 13, 2012 Share #31 Posted December 13, 2012 How does that work? I took #3100 heading to the U.N. at around 2:32 at Times Square, while I saw #2969 (at Lexington) heading to the U.N. on the way back at around 2:59. I guess it left had 20 minutes later or so from the Hudson side. Then another 20 minutes or so when I got #2969 heading to back to the Hudson at 3rd Avenue. Took it to Bryant Park (and saw #9098 on the way to the U.N.) and got off at 3:30 P.M. Then I waited at Bryant Park until 4:00 P.M. when #9098 was heading back. And so I got off at Times Square, and that was it. I wasn't the only guy who had rode all three, and I only rode the ones scheduled for 2:30. Also, does anyone know if they are running different buses every day, or at different times?
GojiMet86 Posted December 13, 2012 Share #33 Posted December 13, 2012 So they were staggered? Also, does anyone know if they are running different buses every day, or at different times? They were staggered. Last year I went, it was a different bus every day. But today they ran 3.
QM1to6Ave Posted December 14, 2012 Share #34 Posted December 14, 2012 Anyone know if they had the static display up at Union Square today?
Aussieinuk Posted December 14, 2012 Share #35 Posted December 14, 2012 Is there a bus transport museum in New York, and if so do they run the buses very often? Could someone please send me a link if there is one? Thanks.
Guest MTA Bus Posted December 14, 2012 Share #36 Posted December 14, 2012 I'm going to see the displays today and ride the 2:30 run.

jgood6195 Posted December 14, 2012 Share #38 Posted December 14, 2012 You know, I wonder when the MTA plans to send #1201 and #101 to run in service? And #6350.
GojiMet86 Posted December 14, 2012 Share #39 Posted December 14, 2012 Today, both #3100 and #9098 ran, the first coming out at 2:30 P.M., and the other one I'll guess at 3:00 P.M.
nostalgia Posted December 15, 2012 Share #40 Posted December 15, 2012 I think the static displays are a great idea so that you don't have to stand around waiting for one of the buses to show up. I didn't see any static displays at 6th & 35th nor at Union Square Friday Dec 14.
Grand Concourse Posted December 15, 2012 Share #41 Posted December 15, 2012 Is there a bus transport museum in New York, and if so do they run the buses very often? Could someone please send me a link if there is one? Thanks. Sadly no, they are stored in either a bus depot or spread out over several depots in storage. These buses only run in December on the weekdays.
Eric B Posted December 16, 2012 Share #42 Posted December 16, 2012 Actually, according to ttmg's roster, Amsterdam is virtually the museum depot now, storing most of the museum fleet. (Though it's not open to the public, of course. Always thought they could do something like that, though).
Grand Concourse Posted December 16, 2012 Share #43 Posted December 16, 2012 I stand corrected then. Yeah, I always hoped they could have a year round museum for the buses. Such a shame we only get to see them for bus test or December.
Aussieinuk Posted December 20, 2012 Share #44 Posted December 20, 2012 "All of these vintage buses will operate along the M42 (42nd Street Crosstown) Monday through Friday, departing from 42nd Street and 12th Avenue at 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and again in the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The fare is $2.25 in cash or swipe a MetroCard, just like our more modern, but far less interesting buses."( From Source Article ) He might say "far less interesting buses" now, but what about in 40 years time? There probably has been a greater change in buses since the vintage fleet (CNG, kneeling) than there will be in the next 40 years.

Not necessarily - we have no idea what advancements the next forty years will bring.
QM1to6Ave Posted December 20, 2012 Share #47 Posted December 20, 2012 Just FYI, the bus at Union Square today is one of the old fishbowls. Very cool.

They aren't any time soon...theres still RTSs roaming around along with Orion Vs And #6350.
