YungMarxian Posted October 24, 2016 #1 Posted October 24, 2016 I'm making this thread to gather clips or names of films, television shows, shorts, etc. that feature aspects of NYC mass transit as a meaningful setting. I'm inspired by the subway scene in La Haine (1996) [dir. Matthiue Kassovitz] and imagine seeing the subways and buses as a focal point to films made by NYC artists and youth. With filmmaking become more and more accessible, we're bound to start seeing the subway in film for what it is: the silver angel that brings so many NYC youths to and from everywhere they go - myself included. I'll add some of my own favorites later.
trainfan22 Posted October 24, 2016 #2 Posted October 24, 2016 Mr Robot comes to mind, show features a LOT of subway scenes.
46Dover Posted October 31, 2016 #3 Posted October 31, 2016 Money Train with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 31, 2016 #4 Posted October 31, 2016 Law & Order (the original one) features scenes with subway stations (real ones and fabricated ones lol) and old RTS buses.
MTA Bus Posted November 1, 2016 #5 Posted November 1, 2016 Men In Black 2 has a R32 that gets halfway eaten by a worm lol.
Lance Posted November 6, 2016 #6 Posted November 6, 2016 Practically any TV show or movie based in New York is going to have at least some mention or shot of the subway in some shape or form. If I had to pick one where the subway plays a meaningful presence, I'd say "The Taking of Pelham 123" for obvious reasons.
Union Tpke Posted November 6, 2016 #7 Posted November 6, 2016 Mr Robot comes to mind, show features a LOT of subway scenes. I love that show! I can't wait until next season!
LegoBrickBreaker101 Posted November 6, 2016 #8 Posted November 6, 2016 I remember seeing a Grand Avenue NG shows up in a scene in Daredevil (the Netflix show, not even gonna acknowledge the movie), and a Fresh Pond NG in Limitless (the TV show). Not sure what the #s of those buses were.
Tonyboy515 Posted November 6, 2016 #9 Posted November 6, 2016 In Futurama, I remember Fry going down the to Newkirk Avenue on Bender xD https://youtu.be/4aYWQb2EY-M Sent from my iPad using NYC Transit Forums mobile app
