mark1447 Posted June 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2009 Well... all R130s(R110A) are now at Grand Concourse Yard No longer at its home the 239th Street Yard!!! Cars 8001-8005 are on the North side of the yard. 8006-8010 are still at the same place of South Side! Seems like the next cars got there over night or Thurs. Seems like all are going to Stilwell/CI Yd in the next few days. So catch em if you can. (To get there take a Woodlawn-Jerome Avenue bound to Bedford Park Blvd, Bronx and walk west toward a bridge like road, thats the yard) I also caught the Train Of Many Colors! I only got the R17, the rest are there but was hidden cuz of the R142s at E180th. The TOMC is there for Tomo Fan Trip! I went by the concourse yard today and the first thing i noticed was most R110A's had the newer subway logos. Makes me wonder what the plans are for them especially if they are going to CI. Hopefully the cars are in good enough condition to be restored and possibly most of the components in the R110A are compatible with R142. If so we may see a return of the 110's in some capacity. They are still relatively new and I'd hate to see them get trashed.

Plus the parts within the R110A are older then the R142. Maybe they share compatibility possibly..

VinnyBrooklyn Posted June 21, 2009 Share #21 Posted June 21, 2009 Nice shots! What about this for an idea, the MTA has been talking about making trains with no seats so they can fit more passengers during rush hours. Maybe they are going to rehab the R110 and rip the seats out as a test model instead of tearing apart a R142, Just a thought I had.

mark1447 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Share #23 Posted June 22, 2009 i cant get this feeling that the R110A is gonna go in service id doubt doubt The 42nd Street is made up of 3 Tracks, #1, #3, #4 (Number #2 no longer exsit but can be seen between stations, former Exp trk) Anyways, each track has different amount of cars: #1/#4 has 3 cars, #3 has 4 cars = 10 cars. But now we will have to divide up the 10 Car R110As, there is only 4 A cars, rest is B cars. And all tracks need 2 A cars for each end.. there isnt enough A cars to cover all of the , you will need 6 A cars for them for Tk 1, 3, 4 And not enough B cars for em. R130(110A) Are set up like this: [<ABBBA | ABBBA>] A = A Car (With TO/CR Cabs) B = B Car (Trailer) (R62A is a Mix A/B Car as it contains Cabs in each) Unless it was like this: Track 1: <ABA> Trk 3: <ABBA> (I dunno if its possible to set the NTTT car order like that) Trk 4: Sticks with R62A <ABA> Rest of the B cars can head for schooling or sumin.. But I likley doubt the will go NTT atm, R62As are still supported and are in good shape. But you never know
