  1. To be clear (not that you are making the argument) it's not a problem with only NF. The media dosent care about a bus model. They pushing the fact that the bus is battery electric and bc it blew up (note, this is not the first time a battery electric exploded out of nowhere) that means they suck and we need to keep diesel powered vehicles on the road. In general the transit industry has a long way to go before a battery electric transportation vehicle can work well enough in all types of weather and conditions.
  2. It's said a minimum of 100-120 buses need to be relocated due to repairs needed by next year. Like Cait Sith said if it's needed the M60 could move to MCH under an agreement, and a couple other routes could be shifted around in the MABSTOA Division (i.e. M125 to WF, M57, M66, M72 to MHV, M96/106, M116 to TU)
  3. If it's advertised around the airport sure, but if there's no signage indicating there is an airport bus to WP and vice versa, I see no point in including Westchester County Airport as part of the microtransit service.
  4. Now that it looks like the artics are being converted from SBS to local scheme, perhaps in a couple yrs when all routes become equipped with chargers it could be possible to do some route swapage between 100 and 146. For interlining purposes I see it possible to swap the M15 SBS for the M102/M125 which I believe more or less share a similar spare factor. Plus (slightly off topic), it's gonna look good when the M35 has a consistent fleet of local scheme buses instead of "borrowing" buses from the M15-SBS.
  5. Given my thoughts on the 12, I don't understand why they wanna cut service to the airport and replace it with micro transit. That's likely gonna discourage ridership to the airport and resort people to driving/taking cabs. Even if the Airport is considered a "satellite airport", I feel it's still major enough to warrant a WP-Airport connector like the former 79/Airlink bus. Perhaps since the airport is in the "suburbs" they might be able to get away with it but still.
  6. The 5 "pilot" LFSE+ for MTA are expected to be purchased, not leased and will be based out of KB. They are expected for delivery Oct. 2023-April 2024.
  7. Currently 5861 is on the M35, run 309 (not an expert on what the numbers mean, just providing the info asked)
  8. 100 st still has select runs for the M35. Some 100 st artics are running on the M35 at this moment
  9. Active procurements as of June 2022: • 470 battery-electric buses • 355 standard • 25 standard (MTABC) • 90 articulated • 5 Nova standard battery-electric buses (award expected in 2022) • 250 express clean-diesel buses (MTABC) • 289 standard clean-diesel buses (MTABC) • 245 articulated clean-diesel buses Upcoming procurements • 213 standard CNG buses (MTABC) • 155 standard CNG buses • 92 express clean-diesel buses • 10 battery-electric test buses (unclear if this is part of the NovaBus contract or a different contract altogether; at least 5 are possibly coach units)
  10. The Bx11/35 have the same signage towards George Washington, just added via 170 St/E 174 St and via 167-169 St respectively
  11. Did somebody in the Dept. of Buses deliberately set up the assignment so that 666 would end up at JG (where it could serve as bad luck and increase chances of a CNG explosion at the depot)? Almost as bad as saying the 2015 XD40s need to stay at their depots so the numbers stay consecutive.
  12. On top of this, politics caused buses to be retired faster, although the Orion's we have rn are not in the best condition either due to aged batteries and some with hard to fix parts as well.
  13. Something to note on the MTA website the Bronx bus redesign was renamed Bronx Local Bus Redesign. They don't mention anything regarding the express bus network. @Via Garibaldi 8 probably has the insight on this but obviously it looks like the express plan was indefinitely shelved but there's absolutely no mention of if they are even gonna revisit the plans due to extreme backlash from the changes. Seems like they don't even wanna attempt at it again because everything now is mostly what everyone wants.
  14. The bold is the only thing I disagree with. Bx5 dosent see much ridership partially bc MTA doesn't promote it and knows if they add weekday service that's gonna dip into $$. They rather just keep the sole route of the Bx12 SBS and cram everyone into that. Not to even mention how bad it might get later when the Bx29 starts it's cut.
  15. Slightly off topic, but is there demand for flushing Exp bus service? Not to say the QM3 should be rerouted over there but I can see someone proposing that to replace/ combine QM3/X51 service. Going back to the QM3, if the route gets kept the route should run in a similar matter of LIE routes in the new plan, with nonstop service west of Main Street. Don't change anything in Manhattan. And if this goes through, there does need to be HOV lanes for the buses to be on. Everyday even for a city going back to pre-pandemic levels I never seen highways packed like this before.
  16. The only one I don't have on my list is 4170. Not sure about the other two.
  17. This thread is the most logical place to post it so here we go. Word has it the reason why the MQ and MV swap is occuring is to plan ahead for fleet uniformity in the future. What do I mean by that? The LFS HEV staying at MQ will eventually head to the Bronx (GH/KB) when the 60/375 electric bus order gets delivered. The buses, which includes delivery to GH and KB, will push out the Nova HEV buses to the Bronx, which will allow the diesel LFS to be displaced to CA, CS and QV. This change not only gives Manhattan and the Bronx more green buses but the change makes sure the entire 40 ft fleet in GH and KB become half hybrid/half electric by 2026.
  18. The only proposal I would have regarding the B2/100 is to combine the 2 routes as a singular service with combined frequencies (Kings Hwy-Mill Basin via Kings Plaza). Both are basically the same routine west of Flatbush but you would have to likely figure out where ridership is most concentrated at in Marine Park and figure out how service along Filmore Avenue would be addressed. But that's a discussion for when the draft plan gets released.
  19. If nobody posted it as retired that means it did not retire. Some of you are asking about units that were already mentioned. And just because something was taken oos for weeks or even months does not make it retired. Refer to this post as well as the very first post that lists all of the retired units. If it's not towed or listed/noted in the depot or ECH yard as scrap it is not retired.
  20. It doesn't say Prevost is gonna completely shut down. It just says the NY plant is gonna close. What the article does mention though is Prevost will most likely merge with it's sister company Nova Bus. We could possibly have a case similar to MCI where Prevost is owned by Nova Bus and they begin manufacturing the Prevost coach models, but only time will tell. Kinda was expecting CRTs sooner or later especially since MCI is pushing the new CRT LE CHARGE now.
  21. Hopefully nobody got hurt in the fire. Wonder what caused this to happen
  22. 7520, 7709 on loan to CS (need confirmation of official move)
  23. Jamaica should be preparing to get artics by 2023-24 so I'm expecting that to happen
