Kriston Lewis Posted January 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2011 Passed by this weekend. There's a note on the door stating that they lost the lease to the property and they "hope to serve you in another location soon". Now what are we gonna eat on railfan trips? Burger King?!? Popeyes? THE HUMANITY!

Locomotion69 Posted January 25, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2011 I never heard of it either, looked it up, it's in Flushing. 39-11 Main Street. Another money hungry landlord strikes again. Edit:It's a franchise. http://www.joesbestburger.com/
Kriston Lewis Posted January 25, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted January 25, 2011 It was a burger place in Flushing (located in front of the old QBx1 stop). It was a favorite among railfans, transit employees and people looking for a bathroom. As for the food, it was better than what you'd get at a chain. I have not been in Downtown Flushing since last summer. With that said, maybe it a small-size burger joint like the Papya hot dog stands in Manhattan because I never been in it or seen it. Nova RTS 9147 Posted January 26, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2011 Wow. I remember when me and several others were there on their opening day. Those burgers were delicious. I'm going to miss Joe's.

R32 3348 Posted January 26, 2011 Share #8 Posted January 26, 2011 How was the place? I've always passed by it in Flushing. I wanted to eat there but I never really passed by during lunch.
SoSpectacular Posted January 26, 2011 Share #9 Posted January 26, 2011 How was the place? I've always passed by it in Flushing. I wanted to eat there but I never really passed by during lunch. It was a pretty legit place before the management switched hands and I don't know what happened afterwards
Kriston Lewis Posted January 26, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted January 26, 2011 They changed the walls to gray and nixed the late evening discounts after new management came in. I guess that was a sign.

Shortline Bus Posted January 26, 2011 Share #15 Posted January 26, 2011 The Village Voice voted Joe's Best Burgers' french fries the best in New York City. OK. Still my personal favorite for fries at a fast food place is Nathan's. I like the fries more than the damn hot dogs.
PATCOman Posted January 26, 2011 Share #16 Posted January 26, 2011 I haven't been there since early 2008 during that G.O. which suspended service from Main Street to Woodside and the LIRR Port Washington Branch was free from Penn Station to Flushing. I remember going there on May 25, 2006 after a Phillies-Mets game at Shea and one of the employees there was a Phillies fan lol.
Forest Glen Posted January 26, 2011 Share #17 Posted January 26, 2011 I've eaten there three times. The burgers taste much better than the burgers at McDonalds and Burger King. It consists of these greasy patties with cheese that mellts, chopped onions, lettuce, and a tomato. The price is somewhat expensive, but worth it. The decor of the restaurant is a bit depressing, but who goes to a restaurant to look at art? The dining options in downtown Flushing aren't that great. Over the years, a Blimpies, KFC, and Wendy's closed (this was due to a tragic shooting).

Pablo M 201 Posted January 26, 2011 Share #19 Posted January 26, 2011 Joe's was a really great spot before a change of management. The burgers, fries, shakes, and cookies were just fantastic. And then I would walk out with some chocolate coins. But yeah, such a shame it closed. Been some time too. It was coming once the quality of the place went down.
