MysteriousBtrain Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8852 Posted February 9, 2015 When does that normally happen? And why does it also say "This is a Brooklyn Bound train via 7th Ave" 1. I seen it happen during late nights a few times.2. What do you mean by the announcement because I never heard it in my life and there is no reason to play it?

MysteriousBtrain Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8854 Posted February 9, 2015 It happens if the is going southbound but dosent happen when it's going Northbound it just says "via Bowling Green".Oh I see. It must be some sort of announcement that plays when it heads to bowling green via 7th avenue and not the lex.
CenSin Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8855 Posted February 9, 2015 Anyone willin to help me? Maybe the yard shrunk since it was built? You might want to have a look at the field's history.
Javier Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8856 Posted February 9, 2015 I know you guys cant see it well but it's like the spur of the old Polo Ground Line on the . There is a short spur that drives away from the tracks but dead ends at the start of the field on the on 240 Street.
trainfan22 Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8857 Posted February 9, 2015 West of the line yard is a huge hill, if you go on that street, you'd be looking down into the yard... http://nycsubway.org/perl/show?139674 So I doubt it was a spur to another line as the hill would make building an EL there an headache.
Javier Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8858 Posted February 9, 2015 Hmm, so what was it used for?
itmaybeokay Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8859 Posted February 9, 2015 Hmm, so what was it used for? If you look at google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/0FuPs It just looks like the yard leads used to be four+ tracks. The deck there is surely wide enough for 4, maybe more. Although, looking at the 1951 Aerial photo i don't see any evidence of that. The 1921 aerial doesn't have much detail, but it looks almost like what's currently an elevated structure used to be at ground level. http://maps.nyc.gov/doitt/nycitymap/?z=10&p=1011459,262727&c=GIS1924&f=SUBWAY Either way, still no spur.
Javier Posted February 9, 2015 Share #8860 Posted February 9, 2015 Yeah, hes right. So I guess it was built for a future expanison to the west of the Yard, but was never completed. BTW, is that the field in the 1921 picture? It looks so...greeny.

Priincenene Posted February 10, 2015 Share #8873 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) So somebody broke into a R68 and changed it to a ? How is that even possible? Simple. During overnight hours, vandals go out and change everything, they steal keys or buy/make keys nd spend minutes changing rollsigns/ LED it to whatever they want (i.g. R68 , R46 , R160 ) Edited February 10, 2015 by Priincenene

Do they make keys or break open a window?

IDK Exactly Ive seen vids on YouTube & FB that shows proof that's how I know the answers to your questions. Like I said, KEYS. Make em or Steal them. Of course Nbody can just go and break a window, they vandal-proof. They break in when the T/O leaves at the terminal station.
