A teenage boy is in critical condition on Long Island after he was struck by a train on Wednesday.

The 14-year-old was hit along the Long Island Rail Road tracks in North Bellport around 4:30 p.m.

The conductor reported seeing a group of teens on the tracks just before the accident.

It's not clear why they were there.

The victim was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Suffolk Police arrested a 13-year-old boy who was with the teen who was struck.

He was charged with criminal mischief for throwing rocks at cars from the train tracks.

Unfortunately there is more than one victim in each of these incidents. There's the person that got hit, either intentionally or not intentionally.

There's also the victim on the train, the engineer (and rest of the train crew) who now has to live with what happened when all he (or she) is doing is trying to make an honest living.

sadly that argument is effective in court LOL!!!!

its not going to be effective in this case. This kids family doesnt have a shot in the dark. The other kid was arrested. They climbed onto the track so they could throw rocks at cars. Good riddence little thug.

The train that hit the 14-year old was the 2:51PM from Montauk to Jamaica (3:38PM from Southampton). After that, another person got hit in by the 1:00AM from Montauk to Jamaica (1:41AM from Southampton). That one sparked North Fork Express to do the LIRR shuttles.

As for the first incident, yeah that boy gets no respect from me. WHY would you play on the tracks when I train is coming. Of course, the family will do whatever it can to sue the MTA for this one. Personally, it should be the MTA suing the family BUT that would lead to an outrage and more drama.

Like what "aemoreira81" said on his handle back in the day:

"MTA...Trying to avoid lawsuits...YOUR lawsuits." Is that right, Adam?

Playing in the tracks is strictly prohibited. People do not pass the yellow line unless the train is in the station and it's stopped.

Inside the tracks are hazardous and it may contains electricity in some sectors.

Are there pneumatic trains or rail trains or depends of the Line in MTA Subway System?

I think that it's only a fault of more security guards in the stations. In Metro de Santiago (Chile), always there's/'re 1 , 2 , 3 or 4 security guards in the stations. The quantity of security guards depends only the traffic in a determined station. (The time is also a variable).

Exists people who don't like to obey all security instructions in any transportation media.

Greetings from Chile.

I think they do something like that in Miami's MetroRail stations, where they have a few guards at every station.
