Demolition of rocks under the Hallett Nature Sanctuary in Central Park has led to the tunnel connecting Lex 63 and 57th 7ave to cave in.

No plans to re-build the tunnel are in order. Re-routes?

This assumes the connection to 6th avenue is not affected by this:

(M) is re-routed after 47-50 via the (F) to 63rd-Lex and replaces the (Q) to 96th Street-2nd Avenue, running 24/7 during this time.  The line is also bumped from 6 TPH to 10 TPH at peak hours to accommodate this change.

(Q) is re-routed after 57th Street-7th Avenue to the 60th Street Tunnel and runs with the (R) to 71st-Continental weekdays, replacing the (M) in Queens (some (Q) trains terminate at 57th Street-7th Avenue weekdays).  Late Nights and Weekends runs to 57th Street-7th Avenue.

Expect delays on Broadway trains using the 60th Street tunnel.

This actually happened last week...

(N) : Coney Island to 57 Street, then via the (Q) to East Side-96 St, the last stop.

(Q) : unchanged

(R) : either via the (F) between 57 Street and 36th Street, Queens or via the (D) between DeKalb Avenue and West 4th Street, then via the (M) between West 4th Street and Queens Plaza.

(W) : Between Whitehall Street-South Ferry and Lexington Av-59 Street, with some trains extended south to Bay Ridge, to fill gaps in  (R) service and some trains operating via the  (F) from 57 Street to Forest Hills-71 Avenue.

A shuttle service operates between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars.

This is why the Botanic Garden Station on the (S) needs to on the side going to Franklin Avenue be lengthened to 600 feet,  In an emergency, the (Q) can then be sent there to terminate while the (S) runs single track between there and Franklin Avenue.

That said, here we go:

(B) is suspended.

(N) and (Q) both run to and from Prospect Park through Coney Island to Astoria and 96th Street respectively, with the (Q) running from Manhattan via Sea Beach Express and to Manhattan via West End Express while the (N) runs express along the Brighton Line and local along the regular route.

One thing you don’t mention (and I don’t know if you omit it because your focus is solely on extending the Botanic Garden platforms for the sake of extending them): Botanic Garden connects to the (2), (3), (4), and (5). In the event that the Brighton Line is cut off from Manhattan at the north end, the Eastern Parkway Line should still be functional and act as a shuttle to/from the (N) and (D) at Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center. One track might not be enough to turn trains during rush hour though, so both platforms should probably be extended with a diamond switch installed. It’s unlikely that the BMT and IRT would both be knocked out at once, so such an option would be very useful. It definitely beats a bus shuttle or going around Coney Island.

Also should mention (forgot from the other day), that t would be the side going to Prospect Park (O1) that would be extended (not Franklin bound, O2), because the switch connects the two tracks O2-O1 northbound, and is used southbound, O1, to the Franklin bound platform of Prospect Park on O2. So the shuttle from Bot. Gar-Franklin would be on the Franklin bound track.

(there is a concrete room built on that side that would need to be removed, to extend it).

Really, it would be best to divert the people to the IND, which has capacity, rather than the already overcapacity IRT. They apparently lft provisions to double-track it all the way, but that would have to be a long term diversion that would lead them to do that.

Agreed, but obviously the platform that transfers to the (2)(3)(4) and (5) would be the one that would need to be extended first.

In a real perfect world, the Franklin like would be rebuilt to double tracks and 600' platforms since then the (Q) in an emergency or G.O. could go to Franklin Avenue to terminate.  That also would be part of the long-term plan to connect such to the Myrtle Avenue line via a slight rebuild of some of the old Myrtle EL and some new trackage to create the Myrtle-Brighton line that I noted a while back in the Ideas thread.

Second

Avenue

Subway

Oh. I feel so dumb... XD

Explain yourself.

There are center tracks at some of the (G) stations that are currently disused. I believe you could snake the (E) through that section.

Out of curiosity, when the (G) operated via Queens Boulevard, what was the (V) doing other than 6th Avenue?
