4-6 weeks. Remember: cars must be redeemed “Safe to operate” by said yard before it can be placed in revenue service. So far, 13 R211As and 2 R211T sets (130/20) are in service.

That's 26 NTTs for the "A" train. I wonder how many NTTs does the "C" train have now that the "M" train is back to normal service.

Two R211T trainsets + 9 8-car trains out of 11 8-car trains with a 4-car spare for the R179s out of 207 St = 13 full trains with a 4-car leftover.

130 As + 100 5-car 179s = 23 NTT 10-car sets. Some are still spares.

For the C: 2 10-car trains and 8-9 8-car trains, like @Calvin said.

Discussion among my friends leads to two likely plans for the R211, factoring number of cars for both option orders, separated into replacement and expansion, as well as the plans for the expansion of Jamaica Yard (which can be found at http://web.mta.info/capitaldashboard/allframenew_head.html?PROJNUM=t8100419&PLTYPE=1&DISPLAYALL=Y ):

A. all 5-car sets to Jamaica Yard to cause various displacements (possible plan mapped out)

B. some 5-car sets to Concourse Yard, some 5-car sets to Jamaica Yard

A less likely plan C would be: some 5-car sets to Concourse Yard, some 5-car sets to Coney Island Yard

All of the 4-car sets are likely to be solely for East New York Yard fleet expansion, though personally I would take those sets from the C while replacing them with 5-car sets.

They put them outside again?

Yes, the sets are being delivered there from Nebraska, originally placed outside as separate cars. They then move them into the plant for final assembly and such before moving them back out as linked cars.

The (C) only has 92 R179 cars - 72 for service (9 trains) and 2.5 trains as spares. It needs 9 R46 trains for the rush hour to supplement AND three R46s switch over from the (A) between rush hours to run on the (C)

Wiki isn't reliable. Someone actually has to take some photos and share them to the transit community.

and I thought I could never learn...

I wouldn’t even list them as this. I’ll go as what’s in service, what’s in BIT, and what got here. All others it’s just wait & see

Which is what I did. I listed the first consists in service and then the other consists and what they're doing. It's a little wonky, but that was my intention.

by truck, how else would they get there?

Via rail and car float, or is that long past?
