Union Tpke Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2576 Posted December 23, 2014 Maybe an extension of the ? Then again, the is already long enough... That line would definitely be used, if it runs on Fordham Road & Pelham Parkway. The stations you planned wouldn't necessarily be used as a subway line..not to mention how zig-zagged it is. just extend the C and terminate it at WTC, and have the E go to euclid
MTA Dude Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2577 Posted December 23, 2014 just extend the C and terminate it at WTC, and have the E go to euclid We don't need the to Euclid, and what do you mean by extend the and terminate it at WTC, the goes by it!
RollOver Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2578 Posted December 23, 2014 There are reasons as to why the shouldn't run to/from Brooklyn.
Javier Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2579 Posted December 23, 2014 I thoght that the ran to Brooklyn after 9/11?
RollOver Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2580 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) It's quite obvious. The WTC attacks affected the , and at the time as well as a few other lines. So yes, the did replaced the in Brooklyn. Edited December 23, 2014 by RollOver
bobtehpanda Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2581 Posted December 23, 2014 I thoght that the ran to Brooklyn after 9/11? It was meant to be temporary. The once upon a time ran to Euclid, but it was cut back to WTC because it was way too long and because Fulton local at the time didn't need all of that service.

Javier Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2583 Posted December 23, 2014 @Cencin No I am not. How about switching the terminals for the and trains? Have the run to Court Square and have the run to Jamica and pair the with Skip Stop service.

P3F Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2591 Posted December 24, 2014 No offense, but you're making yourself sound like an idiot...That's pretty offensive. No point in saying "no offense" right there. @Javier: Switching the F/G is pointless. You accomplish nothing with it. A skip stop F wouldn't work because people do take the F within Brooklyn and this would mess that up.
Union Tpke Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2592 Posted December 24, 2014 Why is that? have it as a sixth avenue service like the original plan of the IND Second System
Armandito Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2593 Posted December 24, 2014 have it as a sixth avenue service like the original plan of the IND Second System There's no more room on the IND Sixth Avenue Line...the train has already taken the spot of the former service.
Union Tpke Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2594 Posted December 24, 2014 There's no more room on the IND Sixth Avenue Line...the train has already taken the spot of the former service. it will need to be done, so I would have the M go via Second Avenue, which would be completed first.

Union Tpke Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2596 Posted December 24, 2014 How? What do you mean? Via 63 St and a connection to Chrystie St. The V could then also operate via Queens Blvd.
CenSin Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2597 Posted December 24, 2014 What do you mean? Via 63 St and a connection to Chrystie St. The V could then also operate via Queens Blvd. I wonder what the relative depths of the tunnels there are. Depending on what the obstacles and grades are, exercising one option might prevent another. The area around Chrystie Street is quite complex.

CenSin Posted December 24, 2014 Share #2599 Posted December 24, 2014 or make a connection at Houston St The question is: would the area have enough space for a tunnel long enough to make this connection? Three short street blocks is a short distance for the kind of operational flexibility I think you're looking for. Would the connecting tunnels be able to weave through the existing tunnels at a grade not too steep for subway service?
