Department of Subways - Proposals/Ideas

Thanks for the info! Now I understand the shuttle. But why didnt they just build a overpass onto track 4 from track 2 at TS instead of building a platform over the tracks?

Do you really need four tracks for a shuttle? Some entire lines are only double-tracked. Track space converted to platform space would be more cost-effective than digging some more.

A subway along Utica Av from Manhattan:

Manhattan:

Avenue C/Houston Street

Brooklyn:

Roebling Street/Grand Street

Union Avenue/Grand Street (G)(L)

Broadway/Union Avenue (G)

Manhattan Avenue/Broadway

Kings Highway/Utica Avenue

Flatlands Avenue/Utica Avenue

Avenue N/Utica Avenue

Marine Park/Flatbush Avenue

The new service will be the (P) train, which will be colored pink on subway maps,

I revised my proposal:

Manhattan:

2 Avenue/Houston Street (F)

Avenue C/Houston Street

Brooklyn:

Berry Street/Grand Street

Havemeyer Street/South 4 Street

Union Avenue/South 4 Street (G)

Flushing Avenue/Beaver Street

Myrtle Avenue/Broadway (J)(M)(Z)

Greene Avenue/Stuyvesant Avenue

Jefferson Avenue/Stuyvesant Avenue

Fulton Street/Utica Avenue (A)(C)

Prospect Place/Utica Avenue

Eastern Parkway/Utica Avenue (3)(4)

Empire Boulevard/Utica Avenue

Winthrop Street/Utica Avenue

Church Avenue/Utica Avenue

Clarendon Road/Utica Avenue

Foster Avenue/Utica Avenue

Kings Highway/Utica Avenue

Flatlands Avenue/Utica Avenue

Avenue N/Utica Avenue

Marine Park/Flatbush Avenue

This service will be designated as the (V) and will be colored pink on maps. Other than that, I changed some of the station locations to better reflect the original plans from the IND Second System.

No that's not what I meant. I meant the pedestrian overpass on track 4.

Ive got a few ideas:

Since the (Q) orignially ran to 21 St-Queens Bridge, the (Q) now runs to Lex Ave - 63 Street and 57 Street - 7 Ave to allow more TPH, and to allow easy access to the (F).

I know that I have said this before, but why is Burnside Ave built as a Express Station?

Allow NFC readers to be placed on MetroCard Turnstiles and Vending Machines.

THAT WON'T WORK! 63 can't be a terminal

Then how did the Orange (Q) terminate in the 90's at 63 Street?

Before the (F) ever ran full-time through the corridor to Queens Boulevard, 63 Street was originally a tunnel that dead-ended at the first station in Queens: Queensbridge–21 Street. Furthermore, the (Q) you speak of was an orange (Q), and it ran from Brighton Beach to Queensbridge–21 Street. Various other 6 Avenue routes have used it as a terminal, but the only Broadway route to have used it in regular service was the yellow (S).

My well thought out proposals:

extend the (D) further northeast into the Bronx, along Gun Hill Road, then Boston Road terminating at Eastchester-Dyre Avenue with the (5).

New stops:

Gun Hill Road/Webster Ave

Gun Hill Road/White Plains Road

Gun Hill Road/Bronxdale Ave

Gun Hill Road/Boston Road

Boston Road/E 222nd Street

Boston Road/Eastchester Road

Boston Road/Baychester Avenue

Eastchester-Dyre Avenue

Also, a new (8) train will be created to run along 3rd Avenue and the Lexington Ave Local terminating at City Hall.

New 3rd Avenue Bronx Stops:

3rd Ave-138th Street

3rd Ave-149th Street

156th Street

163rd Street

169th Street

Clarmont Parkway

Tremont Avenue

180th Street

184th Street

Fordham Plaza

Hell, no! Another local service on Lex means reducing frequency on the (6) --I always take this train (and the (4) or (5) afterwards) to Brooklyn Bridge every day I commute to BMCC, and if God forbid that were to happen in reality, I'm gonna be running late for college every day, man! And besides, ALL THREE of those trains get mad crowded on rush hour. Save that for the Second Avenue Subway and leave the (4)(5)(6) alone... Edited by lara8710

Oh, so QueensBridge wasn't Lex - 63 Street? My mistake, I did a geographic error. When was this tunnel that connected the (F) from 21 Street to via its own route as of today built?

It started December 2001, the same day the (V) was born.

You could've searched it up on Google.

BTW, is it possible to run trains at 2-minute headways on Lex? Edited by lara8710

Yes, it's possible to run trains at 2-minute headways (30 trains an hour) on any corridor in the subway system. But you can't run any more than that. And even if you do run trains at 2-minute headways (30 trains an hour), there would always be delays anyway.

The Queens Blvd Express ((E)(F)) have that headway during rush hours. The Lexington Av Express ((4)(5)) is close.
