MysteriousBtrain Posted August 4, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) Just a couple of interesting rosters over the years that I gathered from all over the web. Some were already seen, while others were a bit difficult to find. Thought some of you might enjoy these rosters, especially the newbies: 1995: http://web.archive.org/web/19980127010654/http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/Bus/busfacts.htm (gotta scroll down a bit, does not include a fleet Roster) 1999: http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/20996-nyctmabstoa-bus-roster-april-1999/ 2000: http://www.subchat.com/buschat/readflat.asp?Id=203384&p=1#203396 2003: http://talk.nycsubway.org/perl/read?bustalk=86154 2004: http://talk.nycsubway.org/perl/read?bustalk=99868 2006: http://forum.bustalk.info/archive/New%20York%20City%20Bus%20Roster%20-%20December%202006_2.html 2007: http://forum.bustalk.info/viewtopic.php?t=48&sid=0735b6e0b2bbccdd483fe52b210e372b 2008: http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/2815-the-official-mta-bus-roster/ http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/2747-mta-bus-roster/ (Top link is NYCT, Bottom is MTA BC) 2009: https://web.archive.org/web/20090306015300/http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Bus_Depot_Roster_%28New_York_MTA%29 2010: https://web.archive.org/web/20100523152702/http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Depot_Roster (Note: before the budget cuts) 2011: https://web.archive.org/web/20110728134500/http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Depot_Roster 2012: https://web.archive.org/web/20120621062926/http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Depot_Roster 2013: https://web.archive.org/web/20130615011014/http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Depot_Roster 2014: https://web.archive.org/web/20140921032130/https://sites.google.com/site/mtanyctrosters/mtaregionalbusroster 2015: https://web.archive.org/web/20151023023732/https://sites.google.com/site/nycbuses/ And just for fun...... Future ENY OP Posted August 4, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 4, 2016 Great history on the rosters. Especially growing up in Flatbush. There were tons of swaps between Fresh Pond and Flatbush with the 81xx buses, 50xx buses, and 94xx buses. 5055-5074 originated at Fresh Pond before going to Flatbush than to 126th. 5075-5124 started their lives in Flatbush before shifting over to Ulmer Park. Those ZF buses were beasts on the B46 and B78 Never knew that FB had up to 9473 before those buses transferred over to Fresh Pond and other Brooklyn Divisions.

Actually it looks like the ZF buses started at GH (but were quickly transfered to FB, I can kind of see the confusion there). Then in 2010, all but 5075-5077 went to UP while the other 3 went to MJQ. By 2012, 5076-5077 joined the other UP units while 5075 stood behind. It kind of bothers me that 5075 doesn't run with ZF anymore, but there might be a story behind that bus that I don't know about. Q43LTD Posted August 4, 2016 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2016 This is was exactly on that booklet I had many moons ago. So the B49 was always at FB...it was never a UP route. I like how they omitted the Q46 under QV. Walnut existed and had half the Bx8?

They (along with #5100-5124) were moved due to Gun Hill and Kingsbridge getting "longer with their buses". I remember riding #5096 on the B64 in 2000. Eventually #5075-5099 joined #5100-5124 at Flatbush later in 2000. Edited August 5, 2016 by The TransitMan

I think I did that roster! Nice find. Oh and I think Flatbush was receiving #9473 and up because I think they were getting rid of the 1990 TMCs at that time.
Fresh Pond Posted August 5, 2016 Share #8 Posted August 5, 2016 It kind of bothers me that 5075 doesn't run with ZF anymore, but there might be a story behind that bus that I don't know about. The original plan was to change all of them over to Allisons because it's easier and cheaper to maintain. It took them so long just to change 5075 around, and they determined it'll be cheaper to just leave the rest alone than converting all of them

As Turtle said the rest is history. Even though ENY did an excellent job converting, the cost didn't outweigh any benefits. MTA then decided they would just leave them in 1 depot, and make sure the mechanics in said depot know how to maintain the hell out of some ZF's. 5075 now has the soul of 8690. It may have been expensive and painstaking, buy ENY did the damn thing with those 2 buses. Now 22 years later, that TMC Allison still running. Thats about what?? 2.6 Million miles, and counting.... And what do you know. She's headed towards my apartment on the B6 as I type this! #RTS #Slays #AllDay

And the story behind 5075.... wow. 5075 had a lot more history than I thought it would. Thought it would be a story similar to 3563, but 5075 "stole" a soul? Very interesting.

I like how they omitted the Q46 under QV. Walnut existed and had half the Bx8? This was after Coliseum had closed. GH had most of the Bx8, while WA had the rest of its routes. WA's 220 buses were more shinier than the other 2 depots in the Bronx. It's last newbies was the Nova RTS 8807-8855. If this depot existed today, this one would be 100% clean diesel as well as hybrid ready. But due to politics and the NYP looking for a new printing plant location, the depot closed. And since it's so close to being a year later I think I'll add another archive from the wayback machine in a month and compare that roster with the 2016.

Other changes include 3 OG to GA, retirement of nearly all 97-98 RTS and 99 D60s, and the movement of the WF RTS to GA, ENY, and JA. The LFS at ENY are all moved to JA. Any other changes that I've missed be sure to add them here. Edited April 19, 2017 by ShadeJay
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted April 19, 2017 Share #17 Posted April 19, 2017 Interesting to see that artics were used on the Bx31 while it was at GH. I feel that might have been done more for interlining purposes though (to/from the Bx4).

Interested Rider Posted June 5, 2017 Share #19 Posted June 5, 2017 If you can find the bus histories by Bernard Linder in Motor Coach Age from the late 1960's and early 1970's, take a look at those articles. His History of the Fifth Avenue Coach, Surface Transit and the beginnings of MABSTOA provides an enormous amount of information on their equipment. There is a section where Fifth Avenue Coach and New York Omnibus sent buses to Surface Transit and the numbers are listed. When these companies were taken over by the city, these buses were renumbered and his article contains the complete listing. I used to have these articles but they apparently are lost.

FLX9304 Posted June 6, 2017 Share #21 Posted June 6, 2017 The O7 CNGs was first test run 7560 on the Bx28 in 2001, along with 6365 on the Bx19 (old OF), one stayed in the depot (6365) while 7560 was sent to JG to begin its permanent stay. 7561-7659 follow suit, 7660-7684 opened up WF. 7685-7819 followed suit Sent from my iPhone using NYC Transit Forums mobile app
Interested Rider Posted June 7, 2017 Share #22 Posted June 7, 2017 If my memory is correct, the B/49 bus was operated out of the West 5th Street Depot after its conversion from a streetcar line on 04/28/51. It was transferred to the Flatbush Depot on 07/27/60 when the trolley coaches were abandoned, West 5th Street closed and Fresh Pond Depot opened. This resulted in many routes changing garages (for example) the B/1, B/21 and B/68 which went from West 5th Street to Ulmer Park. The complete list is located in the Bernard Linder article on Brooklyn in Motor Coach Age (Available in the Brooklyn Public Library - Brooklyn Division and the Queensborough Public Library - Long Island Division

Eric B Posted June 19, 2017 Share #24 Posted June 19, 2017 Wow (had stopped reading that board by that time); and that includes throughout the 70's as well. Just thought, one of the roster site owners should do those up like the modern rosters, with fleet pictures and all, so you can readily see what's what and where they were (These old rosters used model years rather than mfr/model numbers, and he had to remind us a couple of times which were Flxibles or fishbowls).
