SmallParkShuttle Posted January 30, 2015 Share #331 Posted January 30, 2015 I will put up a list of what I'm parting with tomorrow. Basically I'm looking to sell a bunch of subway schedules dated between 1996 and 2008 and maps between 1995 and 2008 In the mean time, I managed to snag a DC Metro rollsign for a steal:

Ethan777 Posted January 31, 2015 Share #334 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Taken from the Singapore National Library's archives of the Trackline Publications which were published by the then Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC) in the 1980s and sent to residential homes near MRT construction sites when our initial MRT system (consisting of North South & East West Lines) was still under construction. These bi-monthly publications served to update residents on the MRT construction progress. Back then in the 1980s, we were very serious about our upcoming rapid transit system as it was our first and we wanted to make sure it was built and publicised well. Here's a picture of Singapore's MRTC board members sitting in front of the then newly built R62/A for NYCT at the Kawasaki plant in Japan. Our MRTC people flew to Japan back then to take a look at what Kawasaki had to offer as this company had won Contract 151 to build and deliver 66 trains of 6 cars each to run in our Singapore MRT system which was scheduled to fully open by 1990. The 66 trains received a interior refurbishment in 2007 are still alive and kicking as of this year 2015 with no upcoming plans to retire them from service. In fact, we have big plans now to upgrade their propulsions to those used in Tokyo Metro - PMSM as part of their Mid-Life Upgrade, similar to your SMS. Newer trains have since been brought in over the past decades to complement these 66 trains. Thus NSEWL currently has 141 trains in service with 122 of them by Kawasaki. In 2016, we're getting 45 more Kawasaki built trains for NSEWL as part of Contract 151B. Singapore has been quite loyal to Kawasaki all these years since they were the rolling stock manufacturers for our first trains. It does mean a lot to us. SmallParkShuttle Posted February 1, 2015 Share #335 Posted February 1, 2015 This is one of my favorite Manhattan Maps: A side-by-side subway and bus visitor's map of Manhattan from 86th St down:
Eric B Posted February 1, 2015 Share #336 Posted February 1, 2015 Wow; I don't remember the multiple line drawing (local/express, I take it) version! IF they're going to do that, they might as well have each line separate (which is only one line for most trunks, and two more lines for 6th Av), like the Weekender or KICK.
Union Tpke Posted February 10, 2015 Share #337 Posted February 10, 2015 Just got this off ebay Offered for sale is this fantastic and unusual collection of late 1960's mimeographed, hand drawn railroad maps and information created and compiled by Lawrence C. Kiss of Brooklyn, NY. The materials include their original mailing envelopes postmarked April 1967 and May 1968. Here is a complete list of contents: Catalog #R2: [A Roster of Present Day Passenger Equipment of the Central Railroad of New Jersey] 8pp. stapled list. Catalog #TM15: [Track Map of the Long Island R.R.; Long Island City Line; All Mainline Trackage Greenpoint Ave. - Jamaica Ave] 2pp. stapled, illustrated maps. Catalog #TM10 (two copies): [Track Map of the Jersey Central Lines; Jersey City - Newark Line] Single page map, two copies, one appears to be a later printing with a bit of information marked out at lower right. Catalog #TM9: [Track Map of the Erie-Lackawanna Electric Mainline; All trackage West End of Bergen Tunnels to Dover] 4pp. stapled (No Catalog Number Found): [Track Map of the Long Island Rail Road Electrified Trackage] 11pp. stapled maps. Catalog #TM1: [Track Map of the Staten Island Rapid Transit Railway Co.; Contains All Trackage in S.I.] 6pp. stapled maps. Catalog #TM14 (3 copies): [Track Map of the New York and Long Branch] 5pp. stapled maps. 2 copies identical. Third copy with a sixth leaf of photograph reproductions to rear. These are fascinating pieces of East Coast railway history and railfan mapping; intricate and detailed, yet also crude. These were almost certainly produced in small quantities and sold for prices ranging between $.05 and $0.15 when new. Several articles on the lines referenced here written by a Larry Kiss (presumably the same person) are discoverable online, though a thorough internet search reveals nothing about these maps and rosters, or any other Kiss produced material in collections, libraries or for sale in the trade. These are truly the works of an original outsider artist and railway cartographer, possibly the only extant copies, certainly worthy of further study and/or prominent placement in your collection.
MHV9218 Posted March 16, 2015 Share #338 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Heads up to anybody who would like to buy some rollsigns for a very reasonable price: an eBay seller has a collection of R44-R46 signs up for sale, all for $15 to $25. This is an excellent deal, especially as most sellers charge $125-175 for the 18x18 rollsign sections. Not to mention, these signs are the rarer Akzidenz-Grotesk sections which only a small number of R46s keep today. That means the 'half-J' and some others. I've already bought a few for myself which I'll be posting photos of when they arrive, but I encourage you guys to check these out. He's also got R33 side signs and R38 side signs for $10, and some much older pieces for a little more money too. http://www.ebay.com/usr/abex9939 Edited March 16, 2015 by MHV9218

Union Tpke Posted April 7, 2015 Share #345 Posted April 7, 2015 From someone I just got one of the rarest subway maps in recent history, the June 1996 Regional Transit Map. There were only 500 printed and it was a test run for the current version of the map that came in 1998. Here is a pic of the cover. I got it for only $6.

Cloudy1950 Posted April 8, 2015 Share #347 Posted April 8, 2015 I wish I had known there was a market for this kind of stuff before I retired. I threw away almost everything I had from transit except 1 shirt and my badge.
