PATCOman Posted December 26, 2009 Share #27 Posted December 26, 2009 Slammin pics! On a scale of 1-10, I give these cars a 6. I like how the look like the older New Haven cars on the side, but the front part I don't really like so much. It will take some time for me to get used to it. R44 5278 Posted December 26, 2009 Share #28 Posted December 26, 2009 Can anyone see their resemblance to the ICE 3?
N-Trizzy2609 Posted December 26, 2009 Share #29 Posted December 26, 2009 Sexy, I think these look 200x better then those M7s.
hoodciti Posted December 26, 2009 Share #30 Posted December 26, 2009 I like M8's side profile very well designed but the front end looks horrible. I was hoping for a slight difference of front end then the M7 but ugly wasnt what I was hoping for... Oh well Guess I'll get used to it. Glad to see the first cars here. Fan Railer Posted December 26, 2009 Share #31 Posted December 26, 2009 Great shots! Im curious to hear how these will sound, or if they'll have the M7 Propulsion. yes, they have the M7's Mitsubishi motors and inverters.
lilbluefoxie Posted December 26, 2009 Share #32 Posted December 26, 2009 yes, they have the M7's Mitsubishi motors and inverters. so theyll have that same whistle as they start up and slow down?
Far Rock Depot Posted December 27, 2009 Share #33 Posted December 27, 2009 I like em! even though the front will take some getting use to. The designer, Cesar Vergara, is someone i look up to when it comes to railcar designs. He designed most of NJT's new equipment including their new paint scheme. it will be interesting to see these run!

Rutgers Tube Posted December 27, 2009 Share #38 Posted December 27, 2009 So does anyone know if they're going to start testing the new cars as the set they have there, or are they going to wait for a few more sets to be delivered in order to test as a full consist? Dave160 Posted December 27, 2009 Share #40 Posted December 27, 2009 Just saw this set yesterday at New Haven, sitting all alone in the yard. It'll probably be a while before these start testing, a many more months ahead 'till they start passenger service. Got it from this angle

St Louis Car 09 Posted December 27, 2009 Share #42 Posted December 27, 2009 Awwww why the cars sitting in the yard all by themselves? And in the cold. They should have them stored in the yard.
R44 5278 Posted December 27, 2009 Share #43 Posted December 27, 2009 so theyll have that same whistle as they start up and slow down? That's the sound of the AC traction motors using the juice picked up by the shoes! Note that only AC motors do this depending on the number of hertz per cycle (rate at which current alternates directions). DC motors don't create any sound because the current only moves in one direction!
