w8Hou Posted June 11, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 11, 2010 ^^^ Question, Since the previous map has Subway Service Guide on the front and bottom section, did they put in some form of subway route information it at the back of the map or some where on the map or even didnt even bother to put it at all (that would be surprised)? mark1447 Posted June 11, 2010 Share #8 Posted June 11, 2010 The railroad is still on the back If it has MNCRR/LIRR then that design of the map u showed us is a big fkin failure, since its BOTH Subway/Railroad.
Eric B Posted June 11, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 11, 2010 That's like a throwback to some of the Vignelli era maps, which had the thick line bands on the cover. Aklso reminds me of the individual route strips on the 1979-90's maps.
LRG Posted June 11, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 11, 2010 Map looks incredibly ugly, not to mention that some of the services are ludicrous anyways. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it again.

LTA1992 Posted June 11, 2010 Share #12 Posted June 11, 2010 Well, personally, I do like the new map design. I saw it at Court Street today and it looks very good. The cover though, yet colorful, needs work.

MattTrain Posted June 11, 2010 Share #14 Posted June 11, 2010 I got my copy today, only the front design is different, the railroads are about the same, I believe they have the shadow lines too as well as the subways.

Some stations do, some don't. I got mine at New York City Transit's Customer Service Center at Stone Street, right near the Whitehall Street Station or the Bowling Green Station. LRG Posted June 11, 2010 Share #18 Posted June 11, 2010 I picked up a crapload of new maps and the service changes at 3 Stone Street. The fact that the MTA eliminated the service guide is sure to cause confusion.
MattTrain Posted June 11, 2010 Share #19 Posted June 11, 2010 I picked up a crapload of new maps and the service changes at 3 Stone Street. The fact that the MTA eliminated the service guide is sure to cause confusion. They did say that service guide would be available online. One Employee told me that guide was removed for "cost-saving" measures.

MTR Admiralty Posted June 11, 2010 Share #22 Posted June 11, 2010 The cover is plain ugly. I mean instead of putting those dumb lines, why not put in some valuable information for regulars and tourists alike?
KTrainExp Posted June 11, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 11, 2010 I checked 3 stations along CPW and none of them had subway maps (new and old ones). Looks like the phasing out of the old subway maps is happening already.
NX Express Posted June 11, 2010 Share #24 Posted June 11, 2010 The cover is plain ugly. I mean instead of putting those dumb lines, why not put in some valuable information for regulars and tourists alike? Or at least depict the fact that the map also includes railroads! I can imagine: Tourist on LIRR (asking clerk): Can I have a map of the LIRR, please? Clerk (handing the new map to tourist): Here you go! Tourist (looks at the map): But this is a subway map! Clerk: It's a railroad map too. Tourist (thinking): Stupid clerk.
