The N.F.L.'s (bad) N.F.C. West is the story of week 15 and the story for the second straight week.

As you may know, the N.F.L. has never has an under .500 division winner or playoff team in a full regular season, the strike season of 1982 being the exception.

Unfortunately, Week 15 still hasn't decided anything, but with each of the four teams losing, the N.F.C. West is now on the brink of a possible historic first.

First today's scores: the Rams lose at home to the cross-state Chiefs 27 to 17; the Rams fall to 6-8 and 4-3 at home; the N.F.C. West co-leaders, the Seahawks lose at home 34 to 18 to the Falcons; the Seahawks fall to 6-8 and 4-3 at home; the 49'ers, who pushed themselves back into the playoff chase with a win last week, lose on the road 34 to 7 to the Chargers; the 49'ers fall to 5-9 and 1-6 on the road but remain a game behind the Rams and the Seahawks; the Cardinals who snapped a seven game losing streak last week with a win lose on the road to the Panthers 19 to 10; the Cardinals fall to 4-10 and 1-6 on the road.

The N.F.C. West - Week 15:

• Saint Louis 6-8 . 429 -

• Seattle 6-8 .429 -

• San Francisco 5-9 .357 -1

• Arizona 4-10 .286 -2

Next up for this N.F.L. nefarious four: 49'ers at Rams (a big game for both teams); Seahawks at Buccaneers; Cowboys at Cardinals

Not going on a limb and making any predictions, but if the cards fall right (pardon the pun), we could have this neat little party with only one week remaining:

• Saint Louis 6-9

• San Francisco 6-9

• Seattle 6-9

• Arizona 5-10

Of course, we could also see this:

• Saint Louis 7-8

• Seattle 6-9

• San Francisco 5-10

• Arizona 5-11

Or even this:

• Seattle 7-8

• San Francisco 6-9

• Saint Louis 6-9

• Arizona 5-10

Or even this:

• Saint Louis 7-8

• Seattle 7-8

• San Francisco 5-10

• Arizona 5-11

But in any event Week 17, the Rams at the Seahawks looms as a critical game (as of now).

LOL! The only catch is either the Rams or Seahawks will have to win in Week 17 since they play each other in Seattle. Also the 49'ers and Cardinals play each other in San Francisco.

Still, we could see this:

• Saint Louis 7-9

• San Francisco 7-9

• Arizona 6-10

• Seattle 6-10

^^ or even this...

• Saint Louis 6-10

• San Francisco 6-10

• Seattle 6-10

• Arizona 6-10

Which would be nothing short of an embarrassment for the National Football League.

Or even better none of the teams in the NFC weak woops i mean 'west' make the playoffs:o. Or at least don't let the survior' host a 1st round (wild card round)get a home game.

And here clip from the other 'miracle at the meadowlands' in 1978 with actual 'real time' play-play at end of game.

CBS-TV (Ch.2 in NYC)then had the TV rights to the NFC games.

The guy who scored this shocking last second TD is future Jets Coach Herm Edwards now with ESPN.

IMO the so called 2010 miracle at the meadowlands is worse for Giants fans since they blew a huge lead at start of 4th period.

Congrats to Devin Hester: 14 Career Kickoff/Punt Returns for a Touchdown, an all-time NFL Record.

Not to mention the Bears blew out the Vikings in frigid Univ. Of Minnesota Stadium and thus become the 2nd team to qualify for the NFL playoffs after the Pats. They also won the NFC North Title and are guranteed at least a 1st round (wild card) home game. If Bears beat the Jets Christmas weekend, Chicago also gets 1st round bye.

Bret Favre was hurt last night as well and hinted he out for rest of season and possibly the end of future HOF career as well.

end of his career... hah...

Favre is going no where.... He will end up being the first player in a wheelchair to have ever played in the NFL... doesn't matter if it's for one down....

I'm convinced.... he's not leaving the game (for good) on his own terms....

he's not leaving the game on a stretcher....

he's gonna end up leaving the game in a bodybag... and I'm not tryna be funny...

this is a man who claimed to have asked his kids if they think he should give it "one more year" (when he went from the packers to the jets).... a man who asked his wife the year after that (when he went to the vikings) the same question.... of course, we're supposed to believe that his wife & kids (in successive years, mind you) actually told him to go back out there & play...

bull.... It was his decision, and his only... and now he's paying the price.

Good for his ass.... Once a respectable player in the league, has turned into a joke...

A joke that doesn't know what else to do with his life.....

Maybe Mr. favre bro has 'boxers diease' who also don't know when to step aside. Join the club. Favre joins other HOF's in other sports i.e Micheal Jordan, Magic Johnson, Pele, Willie Mays and Boxing Greats Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson who also stayed way past their primes.

Good post Shortline.

I'm also wondering if Brett Favre is trying to kill himself by thinking he could keep going at 41 years old playing such a physical sport with his ailments. The Vikings should just put him on injury reserve so he doesn't have to keep taking these punishing hits and breaking his body down. Seriously, he needs to put pride aside and walk away before he can't walk and possibly even live to see 50 years old, and I'm being generous with the age!

Farve could care less about his health, with him it's all about the money. One of the biggest drama queen in sports.

I'm not so sure it's about the money, as much as it is him trying to prove (to himself, or whoever else) that he can still play with the younger guys... AFAIK, he's never had a contract dispute or demanded more money (well, made publicly anyway)....

the drama queen argument, yup... I'll take that for 2000, Alex....

(does jeopardy still come on btw... lol)

The amazing (bad) N.F.C. West took an amazing turn today and, finally, in Week 16, we have a winner, but the impossible dream is still alive.

First the scores: The Rams come back and defeat the 49'ers 25-17 at home. The Rams improve to 7-8 and 5-3 at home; the Seahawks lose 38-15 to the Buccaneers on the road to fall to 6-9 and 2-6 on the road. On Christmas Day, the Cardinals held on and beat the Cowboys 27-26 to improve to 5-10 and 4-4 at home.

The Rams' win and the Seahawks' loss gives the Rams first place alone. The 49'ers join the Cardinals as eliminated.

The scenario: We have a winner in Week 16: If the Rams win at Seattle next Sunday during Week 17, they win the N.F.C. West with 8-8; If the Seahawks win, they produce a tie with the Rams at 7-8, but since the Rams beat the Seahawks 20-3 at home in Week 4, with the Rams and Seahawks each having a win, the Seahawks would win the N.F.C. West because of a 6-6 Conference record (the Rams would finish 5-7 with a loss). The Seahawks would also become the very-first ever division winner and N.F.L. playoff team with an under.500 record during a full regular season.

Bad Sunday in Metropolitan New York City :o  : Mark Sanchez and Gang Green fell behind 10-0 at the first quarter but came back to lead 24-17 at half-time. The Bears came back to lead 38-31 at the third quarter and Gang Green scored a field goal to make the final score 38-34. Still they're playoff bound after the Jaguars lost in overtime to the Redskins and can finish 11-5 if they beat the Bills next Sunday at home. :)

The Football Giants fell to the Packers 45-17 on the road and fall to 9-6 and 4-3 on the road.

Bad Sunday in San Diego :( : the Chargers lose to the Bengals 34-20 and fall to 8-7 and 2-5 on the road. Still, the Chargers will finish no worse than .500 and can finish 9-7 with a win at the Broncos next Sunday.

In the A.F.C. South, the Colts hold off the Raiders 31-26 to improve to 9-6 and 4-4 on the road. The Jaguars' shocking 20-17 loss to the Redskins in overtime puts them at 8-7 and 5-3 at home. The Colts take the A.F.C. South lead.

Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs! The Chiefs won 34-14 over the Titans to improve to 10-5 and 7-0 at home. Then when the Chargers lost to the Bengals, the Chiefs won the A.F.C. West. So far, the Chiefs have improved by 6 games over last season, going from 4-12 to 10-5.

This is Kansas City's first division title since the 2003 Chiefs went 13-3. The six game turnaround is also a record - the N.F.L.'s previous best for a team had been a five game turnaround.

Due the the blizzard, the Eagles and Vikings were postponed and will be a Tuesday night game.

The Chargers are eliminated with their loss to the Bengals.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East with the Giants loss. They still have a shot at a first round bye with a win over the Vikings and Cowboys and if the Bears lose to the Packers.

The Patriots clinched home field with their win over the Bills.

The Vikings-Eagles Tuesday game is the first time a regular season NFL game was played on Tuesday since 1946.

Eli Manning is pathetic. He always has an excuse for his mediocre performances. He'll never be an elite quarterback.

Will Eli be Peyton Manning? Of course not. Peyton is now in 'top 5' of Best Quaterbacks of all time. Unfair comprasion.

With that said, Eli is still better than 95% of the other quaterbacks in the NFL today. Plus he did win a super bowl title.

Don't tell me you're on that bandwagon too....

That, a QB with a ring is better than a QB w/o one...

I can name 2 young QB's off the bat that's better than Eli...

Matt Ryan & Aaron Rodgers.

For me, If Eli didn't have that ring, I would have him in the same category as Sanchez.... I can't watch Eli perform on a game to game basis... too inconsistent... The man has 30 touchdowns & 24 interceptions... 24... that's pathetic bro....

if that's better than 95% of the QB's in the league, then we better be prepared for some atrocious football the next few seasons....

I find those stupid tunnel vision looks of Eli Manning to be more pathetic whenever he commits a turnover. His inconsistency has followed him since his rookie year and while throwing 24 interceptions is atrocious, to be fair a few were the result of his receivers missing plays.
