Today, 8:40 n20L Hicksville #1657 had rear door problem. Every time when bus makes turn, rear door gets release and halts bus suddenly but bus was able to make it all the way to Hicksville even thought it was bumpy ride with rear door problem causing bus to stop suddenly even thought door wasn't open, so it became front door only.

Also male driver on 10:10 n73 Wantagh #1854 doing 10:50 bus drove us to Wendy's and paid for our food. Then customer at Wendy's in Wantagh stole the bus from king Kullen parking lot turned out it was a libru member trying to prove a point about bus safety when driver is away from bus.She got arrested and released on her on.

LIBRU does not steal buses because they are Long Island Job with Justice, fighting for worker's secure rights for union workers, immigrants' right and bus rider's right.

I never mention LIBRU at all. Please stop harassing LIBRU/LIJWJ. They have real job and seven members ride NICE Bus frequently. They worked closely with Food & Water Watch, Long Beach Street New York, Suffolk County Senate/Assembly Members and Nassau County Legislators.

Rode the N24 to Walmart today. Got lucky since both trips I got O5's. (1647 and 1620). I saw they're building apartments on Old Country Rd by the court houses. Looks like The Source Mall is gone. I notices they changed the voice on the automated announcements...

I forgot about the Source Mall. Last I heard, they were going to build a casino, but scrapped the plan because of community opposition.

I took a little ride for fun last week and were surprised by the new automated announcements (at very times) please hold onto the hand rails for schedule information call 1-8xx-xxxx or nicebus.com...

Yea, OTB because of community opposition  because of fear of traffic and unsavory individuals loitering.  There certainly isn't traffic or unsavory individuals loitering around the area now.  NIMBY is one of Long Island's biggest problems from "casinos" to fast food, "OMG,it'll create traffic."  Really?  Long Island has nothing but traffic and will continue to have nothing because of these people.

The announcements seemed muted on the O5s.

I heard the it on nice bus Facebook it's the picture with three buses on it they confirmed them self's

Sure enough, "Nassau Inter-County Express / NICE Bus Original delivery of New Flyer buses was original scheduled for the end of 2015 and a second delivery in 2016. New Flyer is running ahead of schedule. We received 16 Foothill buses that will be in service for the next 9-12 months."

Good for New Flyer, that's one hell of a leap!

Do you think NICE should include transfer announcements again?

Are transfer announcements really necessary in this day and age with computers, smartphones, google maps, and other routing software telling you exactly where to get off the bus to make a transfer?  I think it would be nice on SCT because they are so far behind the times and you cannot plan a trip on google.

Necessary? possibly, The ADA (and LIBRU) may get on them. They were useful in general, and to those who may not know the system.

Under ADA act, announcement are necessary and bus operators are required to make major stop announcement and announcement upon request because there are some blind people rides NICE Bus.

I have two blind friends who depends on NICE Bus.

1. One blind man with his service dog, German shepherd dog, Yuka who lives in White Plains and go to his friend's house in Great Neck on weekend he rides NICE Bus mostly on weekend or Monday for bus back home to Flushing Line to Metro-North. He also uses both Bee-Line fixed-route and paratransit service, but he never used Able-Ride yet.

2. Another blind friend, who lives in Port Washington who I met recently at Vegan Long Island Meetup at Jericho Whole Food because she's also vegeterian. She uses both fix route and Able-Ride. She's not fully blind, but she cannot see at night. She only uses cane when she goes to NYC or unfamilar place or at night time only.

One time she travel to her library on n23 bus without her blind cane (what's proper name) and she pressed tape for Washington St for library, but driver missed her stop and she had to walk few blocks from bookstore area back to library because announcement wasn't on.

I saw a blind man once getting on with a seeing-eye dog and the NG I was on had no working announcements, but he was able to get around fine.  I've seen even more handicapped passengers get on just fine and get where they wanted to with little to no hassle, working announcements or not.  If that was such a blatant violation, NICE would be in deep shit because it's rare to get a bus that has proper announcements on, and even rarer you get a driver who calls stops out.  I understand the latter was common in the MSBA days.

FamousNYLover, what do you think about the new announcements not having transfer information?

I think it needs transfer announcement.

Was it on n20 bus? Blind man with see-eye dog who board n20 Flushing at Hillside Av-Great Neck is Westchester County resident and he rides bus back on Monday.

Today, late 2:25pm n20 Hicksville #1763 skipped all Hicksville passengers at first stop, Flushing. He never pull over at Flushing because he assume passenger lined up was getting on n20 Rolsyn.

Most of the n20 riders from Flushing get off in Great Neck or Roslyn anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem of most, if not all of the riders.

Yesterday was different because of various Marathon delay. There are lots of people waiting for Hicksville bus either for IKEA, Broadway Mall, Jericho Quad, Jericho Whole Food area, and bus driver skipped it's first bus stop, it's violation. There were line lined up all the way to Kelp's Bakerly and most people were waiting for Hicksville bus to Glen Cove or Roosevelt Field, and unrudeful bus driver never pulled over at Flushing-Main St and he thought that n20 Roslyn bus driver might have been Hicksville bus. Most of them were angry when Hicksville bus driver skipped it's first bus stop. They were force to wait over 2-hours of Hicksville bus and some of them said they waited 3-hours for Hicksville bus.

If you're going to Roosevelt Field, you transfer to the n23 to the n22/24/27 or walk to the R.R, then catch the n27. It's inconvenient yes, and the driver who did that shouldn't have, but it makes better sense than waiting for the next bus, to possibly have to wait for yet another bus. Did you actually talk to people that said they waited for 3 hours, or did actually stay at Main Street for 3 hours wondering how long would it be after another Hicksville bus came?
