KeystoneRegional Posted June 27, 2012 Share #326 Posted June 27, 2012 What I saw: Tons of N20/21 Bunching, always two or three at a time!
aemoreira81 Posted June 27, 2012 Share #327 Posted June 27, 2012 On the NICE website, on the route listings page only, I notice that the prefix has been dropped...I wonder if NICE might just go to route numbers in the future (i.e., 1, 6, 20L, 31).
Joel Up Front Posted June 27, 2012 Share #328 Posted June 27, 2012 I love how people out here assume that everyone of age has a license and car... even some of my school's faculty are from the city but they've forgotten about how bad it is out here. I have to leave my last class at 2:05 sharp or else that N35 is gone and that's another 30-40 minutes tacked on because I had to wait for another bus plus the transfer to the second one. Now I have to take the 22 or 24 and that's a good 20 minutes longer than I want to be out. It's exhausting.
VWM Posted June 27, 2012 Share #329 Posted June 27, 2012 What I saw: Tons of N20/21 Bunching, always two or three at a time! If you think you think that's horrible, go to London.
KeystoneRegional Posted June 28, 2012 Share #330 Posted June 28, 2012 If you think you think that's horrible, go to London. LOL, but if you look at it, NYC/Nassau has better road systems than London right?
VWM Posted June 28, 2012 Share #331 Posted June 28, 2012 LOL, but if you look at it, NYC/Nassau has better road systems than London right? No, It's really that London traffic brings 5-6 buses at a time.
KeystoneRegional Posted June 28, 2012 Share #332 Posted June 28, 2012 No, It's really that London traffic brings 5-6 buses at a time. Traffic caused by poorly designed road systems.
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted June 28, 2012 Share #333 Posted June 28, 2012 The n27 can be extended to RF weekends via Willis Avenue, since it would be cost neutral as frm pre MTA days. Maybe run one every 2 hours on Willis
NY1635 Posted June 29, 2012 Share #334 Posted June 29, 2012 I've been meaning to ask this question for a very long time. Why do people at 60 Charles Lindbergh Blvd mistake the Roosevelt Field bound N16 for the Rockville Centre Bound N16? These people have a nasty habit of asking the bus driver if the N16 is going to Hempstead, despite the fact that the luminators show Roosevelt Field in All Caps and in bold.
Joel Up Front Posted June 29, 2012 Share #335 Posted June 29, 2012 The same reason why people sitting above the rear wheels walk all the way to the front (and some are still nice enough to thank the B/O), the reason that they get on the bus and spend a minute in front of the farebox digging for money or their MetroCard, the reason why they still manage to talk over a loud engine + transmission over the phone, and the reason why people cling onto the frontmost poles when the seats are barely filled.
Queens Surface Posted June 30, 2012 Share #336 Posted June 30, 2012 *Cough Cough*, I hear there is a guy from Kentucky working at NICE as a dispatcher I think and has no clue how to run things at all....way to go Veolia
Joel Up Front Posted June 30, 2012 Share #337 Posted June 30, 2012 Kentucky? Hot damn. I'm glad some of the newbies are kind people but they really need more experience operating commercial vehicles.
User Posted June 30, 2012 Author Share #338 Posted June 30, 2012 I just saw a NICE driver (driving 1667) walk out of Target in Westbury, get into his bus, and drive towards Roosevelt Field. Interesting right?
Joel Up Front Posted July 2, 2012 Share #339 Posted July 2, 2012 Before NICE changed the signs, did the N6/22/24 read "165 ST TERM/TERMINAL" or "165TH?" I thought the Horizons showed 165TH at one point (BEFORE THE TAKEOVER).

I thought the Horizons showed 165TH at one point (BEFORE THE TAKEOVER). I think they used to read 165 St Bus Terminal on the NGs and 165th St Bus Terminal on the Orion Vs.
Amtrak7 Posted July 3, 2012 Share #341 Posted July 3, 2012 Just got off 1790. 1) The bus left Hicksville a minute early. Why would the driver do this, given that the n78 is not a route with runtime issues? 2) Is it me or has NICE increased the volume on the Clever Devices?

Why would the driver do this, given that the n78 is not a route with runtime issues? 2) Is it me or has NICE increased the volume on the Clever Devices? Maybe he knew there was traffic on Old Country Rd? And each announcement has a different volume depending on how it's programmed. Some stops announce loud, some announce very low. NICE has to balance them all out.
Blitz Posted July 9, 2012 Share #343 Posted July 9, 2012 I don't know why everyone talks down about Vieola. IMO, they are giving Nassau County exactly what they are PAYING for unlike the MTA that let them slide for so long...
VWM Posted July 9, 2012 Share #344 Posted July 9, 2012 Nassau County's got some pretty high taxes. The administration, however, has to pay a F*cking ridiculous amount of property tax refunds.

VWM Posted July 10, 2012 Share #346 Posted July 10, 2012 They needed $41 Million to Finish the Job... I read in a paper the #1 was definitely over $500,000 maybe even $1M+
Joel Up Front Posted July 10, 2012 Share #347 Posted July 10, 2012 They need those announcements turned up... how else will all these idiots on their phones and with their music player volumes all the way up hear anything? Then people can hit the tape and yell at the B/O after their stop is three blocks behind them.

Joel Up Front Posted July 10, 2012 Share #349 Posted July 10, 2012 Or even better, they hit the tape just as they pass the stop and then the interlock comes on from them banging on the back door.
