B35 via Church Posted August 22, 2015 Share #3626 Posted August 22, 2015 Should the B35 LTD's span be increased on Sundays? I think it should. Having it end so early (after having it start so late) just seems so half-assed. I don't see it making a difference... Is it a good idea if the b14 extends to the casino in queens. The route itself is basically 30 mins. Beside spring creek has enough buses. What you think just a thought Doesn't have to swing all the way out east to the Casino; the connection to Woodhaven/Cross Bay alone would be enough.... More Brooklynites would benefit from that than whatever Queens residents are seeking service past Rockaway blvd subway..... The Q7 tends to just about tank at the subway station from the east.... I find that the riders that end up seeking Q7 service to get back to Brooklyn - want service south of Pitkin subway & hardly the (coverage) area b/w Cross Bay & Pitkin subway..... A reason why the Q8 gets far more usage in Brooklyn than the Q7...... .....and the B14 being basically a 30 min route is no where close to being accurate; just getting from Utica av to the can take 30 mins.....
Armandito Posted August 30, 2015 Share #3627 Posted August 30, 2015 When the B40 and B78 buses were merged in 2002 to form the B47, the segment northwest of Flushing Avenue was eliminated. Why?

NewFlyer 230 Posted August 30, 2015 Share #3629 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) I know that Flatbush Ave has the B41 but why doesn't the Q35 serve all local stops to help out the B41 instead of making Limited like stops. I feel that the Q35 could be utilized better on both ends of its route. In Queens I would have it run to Rockaway Park via the Q22 route and have the Q22 shortened to Rockaway Park. I would also extend the Q35 to as far as either Cortelyou Rd or even Church Ave. If it did run that far I would just keep that limited like service. B35 via Church Posted August 30, 2015 Share #3631 Posted August 30, 2015 I know that Flatbush Ave has the B41 but why doesn't the Q35 serve all local stops to help out the B41 instead of making Limited like stops. I feel that the Q35 could be utilized better on both ends of its route. In Queens I would have it run to Rockaway Park via the Q22 route and have the Q22 shortened to Rockaway Park. I would also extend the Q35 to as far as either Cortelyou Rd or even Church Ave. If it did run that far I would just keep that limited like service. ..... They tried the local Q35 from KP to Junction.. that #FAILED, and honestly no one wants to sit on a local Q35 from the Rockaways.. ^^ This. Rockaway riders complained their asses off & got those extra stops in Brooklyn revoked...... They really wanted a Rockaways - Junction (point-to-point) route, but they weren't going to get that; pushing the envelope too damn far.... It wouldn't have gotten enough ridership to have kept the Q35 afloat anyway..... ---------------- Simply put, the B41 doesn't need a supplement.... There's enough service on the B41 south of the junction (whether that be to Bergen Beach or Kings Plaza) to where the Q35 can remain being the rockaways - junction "shuttle" (with a few stops along F'bush in between)..... Q35 north of the junction simply isn't warranted (local or LTD, doesn't matter), nor is it necessary; it's like sending the Q17 to College Point or something.... Putting it a little differently, Trying to "Q32" the Q35 failed then & it'd fail now..... Q35 ridership within Queens (outside of the summer season, that is) is absolutely horrid.... Also, one of the main problems with the Q35 is that current service is VERY inconsistent.... There seems to be more buses going either OOS or taking longer layover times than the headways of the route itself (the Q35.... isn't a low headway route) at newport/116th than there are buses heading back to Brooklyn (which to this day I fail to get the logic of, but w/e)..... So what I mean by "Q32"-ing the Q35 is that, you're not gonna have this equal (or near equal) usage within each borough and between boroughs on the Q35, like you do with the Q32...... The Q35 means far more for Queens riders than it is/does for Brooklyn riders (because the B41 goes a] farther than the junction, and b] farther north than Flatbush (the neighborhood); the area you (New Flyer) would end extended Q35's to...... With the Q32, it still does more for Queens riders than Manhattan riders, but there are way more intra-manhattan riders on the Q32 than there are intra-queens riders on the Q35.... AINEC..... So, yeah, If the B41 was lacking in service, then having the Q35 as a local supplement south of the junction would make sense.... But the way things currently are with the B41, you would be prolonging the commutes of all those folks tryna get to/from the junction for no real good reason.... Not that I'm proposing this (because I wouldn't touch either of these with a 10 foot pole), but it would make more logistical sense to send those Empire bl. shorties on the B41 to the Rockaways, than it would be to have the Q35 running b/w [Church or Cortelyou] & the Rockaways.....

Armandito Posted September 1, 2015 Share #3633 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) This is similar to my old proposal for a Brooklyn-LGA bus, except the routing has changed: B80: runs limited between Boerum Place in Downtown Brooklyn and LGA Airport daily from 6AM to midnight every 30 minutes. Streets: via Park Avenue, Williamsburg Street, Meeker Avenue, McGuiness Boulevard, Jackson Avenue, 31st Street, and Ditmars Boulevard. Stops: Boerum Place/Livingston Street Jay Street/Fulton Mall Jay Street/Myrtle Promenade Park Avenue/Vanderbilt Avenue Classon Avenue/Flushing Avenue (northbound) Williamsburg Street West/Flushing Avenue (southbound) Rodney Street/Broadway (northbound) Marcy Avenue/Broadway (southbound) Meeker Avenue/Metropolitan Avenue Meeker Avenue/Graham Avenue McGuiness Boulevard/Nassau Avenue McGuiness Boulevard/Greenpoint Avenue Jackson Avenue/23rd Street Jackson Avenue/Queens Plaza South ( two blocks west) 31st Street/35th Avenue 31st Street/Broadway 31st Street/30th Avenue 31st Street/Astoria Boulevard 31st Street/Ditmars Boulevard Ditmars Boulevard/Steinway Street 23rd Avenue/82nd Street (northbound) Ditmars Boulevard/82nd Street (southbound) 23rd Avenue/87th Street (northbound) 23rd Avenue/94th Street (northbound) All airport terminals (southbound) Edited September 1, 2015 by lara8710

MysteriousBtrain Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3637 Posted September 2, 2015 I'd rather have this Brooklyn-LGA route run nonstop between Williamsburg and LGA since this routing would maybe attract more brooklynites to the route, and I don't think the B62 needs a LTD.

Armandito Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3640 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) True. I still don't really see the B62 needing a LTD though. If that's the case, I would keep its routing intact, but it would now run nonstop between the Marcy Avenue station and Court Square. BM5 via Woodhaven Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3641 Posted September 2, 2015 The thing is, I dont see a need for a Brooklyn to LGA route. I don't see a need for a LIC-LGA route. There was one many years ago, and it didn't suceed. The Q70 and M60 are good for now. There might also be a Bx41 extension to LGA too.

MysteriousBtrain Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3645 Posted September 2, 2015 How do you know this and where do they all go in the Bronx?Because I am part of those few hundreds and the would not be proposing a Bx41 extension or the then Bx50 if the M60 wasn't the way it is today. The M60 wouldn't even be an artic today if it wasn't the way it is today.

MysteriousBtrain Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3647 Posted September 2, 2015 I'm completely confused. How exactly does the M60 help people located in the Bronx???Easy. But the M60 doesn't serve the Bronx, so wouldn't it be easier to just get the Bx15 and call it a day?
MysteriousBtrain Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3649 Posted September 2, 2015 But the M60 doesn't serve the Bronx, so wouldn't it be easier to just get the Bx15 and call it a day?If you're coming from LGA, no, especially since that airport lacks an airtrain. That's why the M60 transfers are necessary and the proposals for the Bx41 and Bx50 exist.
Armandito Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3650 Posted September 2, 2015 Some might say there's no need for a Brooklyn-LGA bus, but I would think otherwise. The challenge is finding a justifiable ridership base for the route...
