B/O 4600 Hiring Process

Transferred before I picked, will be on Staten Island provided I pass my road test tomorrow. I selected Charleston at orientation, hopefully that comes through.

There's 7 of us from the 11/14 class who transferred to Staten Island.  We got in just before the system pick closed on Dec 29 but in the end it didn't matter.  Castleton and Charleston closed so we didn't get to pick a depot and were all forced to Yukon.  The Union is saying there's up to 40 operators who want to transfer out of S.I.  When they do, we'll have the opportunity to transfer to another depot since we didn't get to pick.  From what I've been hearing, most of those operators who are transferring out of S.I. are in Charleston and Yukon.  None of the 7 in my class want Charleston.  You can probably guess from my avatar where I'm heading once I get the opportunity.  I'd say you have a good chance of getting Charleston once those B/Os transfer out.

The first day at Zerega, you will sign your transfer request to Staten Island. When it comes in down the road, they will pull you aside and ask to accept (or deny) your transfer to SI.

 

The other way is if your whole class is getting forced there after the 10 day.

We were told today by ATU union there wont be another TA class until March.  Only OA classes in Jan and Feb.

Yes. My first choice would be Caselton too. If not I'll take Yukon.

Yukon definitely has better local routes but I love the atmosphere at Castleton.  Yukon is mostly Express and I'm not sure if that's what I want to do yet.  I have to experience it on my own but people seem to either love it or hate it.  How do you feel about express, Sergio?  Have you done it on your own yet?  Also, did you pick Yukon or were you forced there like my class?

At first I was little nervous but this week I had three runs into city and I loved it. It's not so bad at night the only thing I have to get used to is getting to know all the stops. Oh and I love the new Prevost coach bus.

Anyone know if the days off you take from built up OTO counts towards your probation or do you have to make up those days?

Unless there is an error from inside, you have to make up any OTO, AVA, Sick days, etc.

On a personal note, I had two weeks for maternity leave (paid) and got extended two weeks to make it up. Not complaining though. It was very nice to get those 2 weeks off for the birth of our child.

They paid you for maternity leave even while on probabtion? Reason being i asked a union rep if it was paid while on probation and they told me no. Also from what i know you dont have to make up those hours because that's your time that was saved.

Why would he get it before me when I have 2 months seniority over him?

We all have our own unique situations. I already have my CDL. I wish they have a class ASAP so I can go in already lol.

I'm miserable at my current job right now. Oh well, patience is a virtue...

I was called back in November but have to wait until the end of January because of an insurance lapse I had 3 yrs ago (it clears my abstract in the end of January) my list # is in the 1700s

Thanks, i have 3 more lessons before my road test on feb 7. So far it's been good.

Oh trust me I know the feeling. I was call already but, had to think really hard if I wanted to go in with just a permit but man did I feel like I was ready.

I went with just a permit, the dmv test is way easier than the 10 day training, having a cdl is a plus but if you can pass the 10 day training the dmv test should be a breeze.
