MHV9218 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2013 Serious injuries while riding? Sheesh, that must have been a rough one. Glad everybody seems like they'll make it, be interesting to learn the cause.
NewFlyer 230 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2013 I hope everyone's alright. I noticed its always a Orion VII in these accidents, I rarely see any with RTS's Orion V's and New Flyers.
MHV9218 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2013 There are more VII OGs and NGs in regular service than other individual fleets, makes sense there would be more accidents.
Blitz Posted September 9, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2013 Where was the bus hit? And how fast were they going? Because for 38 - 41 people to be injured during a bus collision with a CAR, the car had to have t-boned the bus doing at least 30mph. If it was a front or rear collision, at least 85% of those that were "injured" are full of shit.
B36 Via Ave U Posted September 9, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2013 Please let everyone be ok and I am wondering the same thing as Blitz, what was the impact like or it could be, where were the majority of the people located in the bus at the time of Impact, and to think I rode 6583 less than a week ago on the B82.. contor Posted September 9, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2013 On channel 7 news. They said the car was T-boned. And from what they showed the car was pushed up the block some from the intersection. The 2 people in the car had to be cut out of the car. Turbo19 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2013 From what has been released by the media it looks like the impact itself was brutal. Such a high injury rate as a result of the impact isn't at all surprising. My condolences go out to the injured and their families. With any luck recovery will be easy for the majority of victims. QM1to6Ave Posted September 10, 2013 Share #11 Posted September 10, 2013 Oh boy. That's terrible. Some of the injuries could have potentially come from the B/O stopping short to avoid the accident, though I can't tell if that happened here or not. I've been on a few buses where people went flying when the B/O was forced to stop very short for whatever reasons.

Trainmaster5 Posted September 10, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 10, 2013 Just want to point out that Herkimer Street and Albany Avenue IS NOT Crown Heights. It's Bed-Stuy. Historically Atlantic Avenue is the border between the Heights and Bed-Stuy. I do hope everyone comes out of this okay. @ Fresh Pond -I see your comment about Interfaith and had to laugh. When I was born there it was called St. John's and it was considered one of the better ones back then.

Blitz Posted September 10, 2013 Share #19 Posted September 10, 2013 28,000 pounds of steel and such. The bus always wins. 28,000lbs? Try 41,000lbs...like someone else pointed out earlier, if people really got hurt during that collision, it was due to the abrupt braking from the driver trying to avoid hitting y the car

46Dover Posted September 10, 2013 Share #23 Posted September 10, 2013 Well if it was a police chase, How stupid you must be to run from the cops? And involve other people that ended up getting hurt? This idiot is through.

NewFlyer 230 Posted September 10, 2013 Share #25 Posted September 10, 2013 All it needs I a quick fix up and it's back on the road. At least it didn't burn up like two of CS's buses and some RTS's.
