Nothing goes to scrap unless there is a warranty for the Novas. The 7000s are: 7076, 7064, 7086 & 7071. Most of the 28-30 are sitting in Charleston getting flood inspected. Yes, Castleton has 240 buses total for its local routes, the question is: how many buses can be saved?

Some of them were submerged in water for nearly 12+ hours, it simply can't be saved unless you rebuild the entire thing and the cost for the bus isn't worth it.
MHV9218 Posted September 9, 2021 Share #3307 Posted September 9, 2021 Notable that unlike Sandy, which was salt water (= frame rot, the reason the SI Orion Vs were retired so fast), this was mostly fresh water (and sewage). The question is really electronic issues, but it's not as cut-and-dry as a storm surge case.

You should see the the underbodies of the 20 or so NABI buses that operate in Atlantic City, the underbodies were so corroded with salt water they had to get rebuilt.

Staten Island lost approximately 18 40 foot buses and they received 14 replacements. Gun Hill got replacements from Kingsbridge and Manhattanville Depots for the buses they gave to Castleton. Kingsbridge and Manhattanville are still in the process of receiving the newer hybrid units so they should be okay. Queens Village will likely receive more NG Hybrids to replace the buses they sent to Castleton and retire the last 44 or so of their 2007 Hybrids.

I see quite a few of potential coach losses on the list of flooded vehicles. Has reversal of retirement ever happened in case of a recently retired, but not scrapped bus?
