R32 3838 Posted June 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2010 Yesterday I spoted an R68A on the around 6:30pm, and I rode the R32 ( ( Mostlikley for the Last time) I heard its going to be transfered, As we know the R46 swap has started, and there is still R44's in service I got on last night and there was another one heading uptown, and the R160A-1's are layed up on the southbound side of the Hillside ave express tracks . The (N)/(Q) is going to swap equipment, meaning that They want the to be 100% R160 while the is half and Half.

LRG Posted June 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2010 Yup, someone posted a video of the Coney Island R32 being transferred. And R68s have been popping up on the as well, its been exclusive in the chatbox all day lol.
iGeMiNix Posted June 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 26, 2010 Saw one myself, the N R68A going to Coney Island at Canal Street 5:30. All R160s on the Q today.
Grand Concourse Posted June 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 27, 2010 As a part time user of the line, this is good that they'll be all R160s. 75' car trains are terrible if you need to get to the center to stand. I experienced this hell first hand again on an R44 train yesterday. That plus at least now the will at least be 'interesting' again.
Daniel The Cool Posted June 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 27, 2010 I saw 6-8 sets of R68A's on the . Expect to see more come soon
error46146 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted June 27, 2010 68's on the N is better than 68's on the Q imo lol
R110B Posted June 27, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 27, 2010 Yes the(Q) should get all of the R160s and the will be fun to ride again.
Mysterious2train Posted June 27, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 27, 2010 What's with the car swap? What purpose will it serve? Not that I'm complaining, as a semi-regular rider....
2Line1291 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 27, 2010 I guess because the is running Broadway Local all times now, its gonna require more trainsets putting R68/A's on there now.
Luis1985 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #12 Posted June 27, 2010 Don't remind me about the swap . Ive seen nothing but 160s on the today.. i only saw 2 sets R68A's on the . one was in service, the other was in the yard. (the rest were all R160's, which pissed me the hell off big time!) i also saw 3 R68A's on the today. 2 in service, one in the yard. (i took one on the today.) The rest of service were R160's, which wasn't too bad. The rest of the R68A's were all on the (. im going to guess that a few are also at Concourse yard for Monday morning service. i didnt see any of Coney Island's R68's. error46146 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #14 Posted June 27, 2010 the 68's with its slow acceleration would work better on express lines than local lines..the Q is completely local in brooklyn so theoretically the 160's with the faster acceleration would make more sense since quick accelearion and stopping would be needed while the N with that long segment between pacific and 36 would give it plenty of time to get good speed thats the way i see it
Luis1985 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #15 Posted June 27, 2010 Yes the(Q) should get all of the R160s and the will be fun to ride again. ur right, but then again, i like the R68/R68A's on the . R160's entered exclusively on the , leave them there.

Grand Concourse Posted June 27, 2010 Share #17 Posted June 27, 2010 What's with the car swap? What purpose will it serve? Not that I'm complaining, as a semi-regular rider....Probably so crews can easily change the signs on trains heading to Astoria or to 57/7th [i still don't think they'll send all the (Q)s to Astoria - more than what the amt of trains the had going to Queens]. Luis1985 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #18 Posted June 27, 2010 Here is proof of the R68A train: These two photos were from me standing on the Downtown side of the 57 St/7 Av Station, and the R68A train pulling in was on the Queens-bound side: This photo was the one I took of the roll-sign: This photo was the one i took of myself riding the R68A train:

I remember some Brooklyn bound (N)s started at 57 Street.
iGeMiNix Posted June 27, 2010 Share #22 Posted June 27, 2010 So why was the CIY R32 (B)set transffered 2 207th St AGAIN? The B is going to receive a set of R68/A from the Q to make up the train so CIY no longer needs the R32. The N and Q are going to get the R160s from the W. R10 2952 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 27, 2010 R-32s won't end up running exclusively on the , will they? I mean really, 240 cars seems like more than enough for providing service on the line.
NX Express Posted June 27, 2010 Share #24 Posted June 27, 2010 What's with the car swap? What purpose will it serve? Not that I'm complaining, as a semi-regular rider.... The rollsigns are easier to change on the 160s, and the has two northern terminals. So why was the CIY R32 (B)set transffered 2 207th St AGAIN? With the cut, there were extra trains in CI Yard. Thus, the 32 wasn't needed.
